Is Pep a defensive genius?

7 clean sheets in our last 8 across all competitions now. And our goals conceded should only be 2!

Wumming? So we wasn’t a bobble on a shit pitch (their own fault which makes it better) away from drawing that game? Kane one on one, heavy touch meant there was no chance, a better touch and it’s an easy chance. Free header from a corner poorly executed. Christ if you didn’t watch that thinking spurs were looking dangerous then you really are fucking deluded bastards. I’m buzzing with the win but my point it on paper that’s a clean sheet, in reality spurs should have scored two possibly more, we missed chances too and deserved to win but this thread is about our defence which on another day would have let in a few goals if they finished marginally better. Let’s be deluded though ey.
It’s a bit daft to base an argument on shudda wudda cudda. Spurs had a chance or two but in football it’s very difficult to score a goal hence the very low number of goals per game.In reality, as you put it, we conceded zero goals, everything else is pure conjecture.

Our defence is fvcking brilliant. Harry Kane has a heavy touch when in on goal partly due to the pressure he feels because we defend so well he spends the game feeding on scraps. Lamela misses for the same reason. We are squeezing the life out of some of the best forwards in the world and it’s a joy to behold.

As has been said all teams, no matter how good they are, can be got at.

What I think we take exception to is that this 'City's defence can be got at' phrase is thrown around without any substance or analysis of how.

In the past season and a half only 1 team has 'got at us' and that is Liverpool and for a short frantic period in 2 games. To get at us you need an intense period of pressing, that can momentarily unsettle us and have an exceptional forward line that can play with that intensity and are clinical. IMHO there are only 2 teams capable of doing that and they are Liverpool and Barcelona and we've seen this season how we've learnt to deal with the Liverpool problem.

To actually beat us you need the above and be lucky enough to meet us on an off day in front of goal and/or referee decisions go in your favour.

There are of course exceptions, United last season for example. They didn't 'get at us' it was complacency to win they had a big refereeing decision go in their favour.

They were only one dodgy pitch away from getting a goal. But who's to say that with a normal pitch and our normal passing game (which was obviously below-par yesterday because of the pitch) they would have even been in a position to take that chance in the first place?

They were only one dodgy pitch away from conceding a fistful of goals.
Merlin, Raheem, Mahrez, Agüero were not that wasteful, the yankee pitch did its part. And also played against ours and theirs full backs. Only 3 goals conceded hitherto, and one was an offside handball.Great defence indeed, is ours.

The rest is either willingly swallowing the media bollocks or just wumming.
So fucking tired of the resident wum in this forum.

Still only conceded goals by defenders in the PL. No striker or midfielder has scored against us this season in the league #lockdown

I think we seem to really to be really compact in defending, especially with both full backs going narrower. Teams just can’t get a clear shot.

Even great defensive teams give up chances. Take Juventus a couple of years ago they were and are great at the back yet we created chances and could have won. I think it’s a little unrealistic to give no chances whatsoever to a really good team or every game. We do restrict teams to very few chances. Compare how many Spurs had to how many we squandered.

The partnership of Stones and Laporte is really looking good now, they are the rock for us to build around
