Is Pep the greatest?

For the best quality, most revolutionary football - Pep by a mile. Intelligent and intense. However he needs unreal amounts of money, has fallen short in Europe with two fancied clubs and has the toothy one breathing down his neck.

There are at at least two English club managers I’d place higher:

For long term sustained success, dominance of his kingdom, management (intimidation?) of the media and youth development - the GPC. He also possessed the knack of cutting, pruning and rebuilding when appropriate. Strong as an ox mentally.

For sheer alchemy and cheek, Brian Clough. Took two shit clubs to unbelievable heights.

Pep didn't spend unreal amounts of money to build his Barca team. He was lucky to have some exceptional talents in the squad but he made them better and he developed also players like Pique, Busquets, Pedro, Alves... They played Man U off the park in the 2009 CL final with a makeshift defence since 3 first choice defenders weren't available. The point that he needs the best players to win is unconvincing. Hey, he won 100 pts with us while lacking a single great defender in the squad, just good and decent ones.

How anyone can question Pep as the greatest manager in the world, beggars belief. He has changed the culture of football in just over a decade. We are incredibly lucky to have him.

He is the most influential manager of his generation. How great would it be if City was the club one of the greatest managers ever legacy was the most associated with

The pisscan did it at one club in one country,he spent plenty of money and the media and officials backed him all the way

Pep however...

Any manager that wins titles in more than one country always trumps anyone who does it for one club only

Ok, if those are your rules, does it count that he disrupted the old firm to win 3 Scottish Premier League titles, plus European Cup Winners Cup, with the mighty moneybags club Aberdeen? Oh and 4 Scottish FA Cups, one Scottish League Cup and one European Super Cup.

That’s like winning the English PL and a sack of other trophies with Southampton or Crystal Palace.

I await err yeah but Scottish football doesn’t count or some other such bollocks.

One from my back catalogue hehe

Not saying he's the greatest but he's in the top one :-) time will tell what he can produce this season and next he's spent a lot of money and not every buys come off as yet.

Scottish football was great up until the 90's.

What that swine did was fantastic, no as good as Big Jock mind.

It would be interesting to ask the question again in 2 years as Pep is currently at a X-roads.

Will he successfully rebuild, reinvigorate and reinstate us at the top of the English tree? Will City finally have achieved success in Europe?

Or will he be history?
