is the champions league losing its pull

Should just be done like the FA Cup from the start imo...

100% agree with you

The trouble is Turkey's don't vote for Xmas.

The likes of Juve, AC, Real Madrid etc are happy with the seeding which virtually guarantees them progress, the trouble with that is that make 9/10 games dull

Also UEFA wouldn't take the risk of their cash cows being beaten in the early rounds

I'd say it was nearer 2k off capacity last night and that is borne out by their attendance against Galatasaray which, as you have kindly pointed out, was 1500 more than this game. And while I'm nowhere near as obsessed with empty seats as some of our red friends, I'll confess that late yesterday afternoon I had a quick peek at their website and found that there were plenty of blocks with seats still available, and in some instances - particularly the upper echelons of the East Stand - there were hundreds of seats available in several blocks

Heh, class.

The point being that some (not all) Rags cast the first stone in the "empty seats" war yet when the same gets pointed out to you* that Old Trafford isn't full for every game, it gets swept under the carpet.

*Don't even think about claiming you don't support them - there's been a strong whiff about you ever since you joined this forum yet you haven't got the balls to admit it. Fair play to JM - at least he's open about the club he supports and still has the intelligence to comfortably hold his own on here when the flak is flying.

The point still stands that 73k on a tuesday night against Braga is a good turnout.

Yes, I am a rag and I keep cats, and I slap sleeping people on trains, startle people with bangers, steal fence panels, smoke in toilets, wear beany hats indoors, watch x factor, have a latin tattoo and visit homes for broken girls with a cigar and a blonde wig.....how's about that, then?

Not if they say they there are 600million Utd fans out there and the ones in the pub 'can't get tickets'

maybe they draw United a fair group for once and then maybe people would turn up.

That being said there isn't a lot of money around in footy at the moment and UEFA seem intent on preventing those with it from spending it.

The standard's dropped, there are more nothing teams in it and they have no hope of competing.

Every group stage win is worth €800,000 and even a draw is worth €400,000. I think most clubs, even City, would prefer it to stay as long as possible for these revenue reasons. Problem is that so far we are doing little to maximize our potential revenue from the CL. 3 wins, 2 draws, 3 losses = €3,200,000 of a possible €6,400,000 and that's before the increased revenue of the knockout stages that we failed to qualify for last year and are in danger of failing to qualify for again.

We will love it
When we make our mark on it
We need to experience the knockout stages as a club
Tough group or not, we should part of europe's elite
English Champions should be in the top 8 clubs
If Mancini can't do it, the owners will get someone who can
We need that global appeal to grease the financial cog and FFP won't be an issue

The last bit of your confession is a disgrace....watching fuckin' X factor!!

It only really hots up in the knockouts or the latter stages of the groups for me.

I enjoyed our run a few seasons back. It was very surreal and exciting.

I have only watched one champs league game so far, madrid vs city. I'll watch more towards the end of the group
