The new enthusiasm for the flat earth theory is confined to the conspiracy theory part of the entertainment industry in the USA.

They use it as a way of giving their audience a bit of a break from Bigfoot, the moon landings, the illuminati, Roswell, 9/11, alien abductions, secret Nazi technology, 'false flags' and all the other topics they flog to death year after year.

In terms of the physics a much better question would be why the Earth is round. In fact why are all planets and all stars mostly round? Gravity is of course the answer but then again what is gravity?
