There was a "furore" in Prestwich recently, because someone complained about their Housing Association having kids in singing carols. The comments were predictably racist, with so many assuming that it would be a Muslim, even though they're hugely outnumbered by people who don't believe in God at all.
What did strike me as odd though, was that a huge amount of comments used the phrase "Christian Country". I know this isn't a new term, and I've obviously heard it many times over the years, but the way it was parroted by so many people, and in such a simplistic way, suggests that its becoming a social media theme.
I doubt many of these people will start going to Church, but if the CofE wants to stay relevant, perhaps they should be leaning more into racism, rather than all this love your neighbour stuff?
