I left Rochdale about 6 years ago but The Brown Cow in Norden was a big city pub, landlord was a big blue called Woody .
not anymore, sadly

Since when as it was still owned by a big blue when i was a couple of months back.
Left a month or so back heard he'd had enough pub was a mess upstairs brewery wouldn't do anything to fix it.

The Brown Cow closed in june & Woody has moved on to pastures new . It is expected to reopen soon but weather it will still the drinking hole for Norden Blues ,time will tell

Good Luck to Dawn & Woody you will be a hard act to follow (btw I didn't muscle woody out ;) )

Had some great times in The Brown Cow when back in the day when warren was the landlord and then woody , hope it opens again soon.

Think it's only right that we at Mcfc Cassy, should acknowledge the work of our Predecessors in the Rochdale branch

Repeat the honourable mentions to Phil Gatenby, Steve Hewitt, Ken Doodson & of course Mick. Some great guests, top nghts & to do it all without the Internet & mobiles was a hell of a task. Respect is due & apologies if I've overlooked anyone

Horton, Rosler, Ball, Tueart all paid a visit & I remember a great night out with Terry Phelan who stayed longer than expected - and signed for Chelsea the very next day.

Was sad to hear about Steve from his Mum who helps out with the Scouts/Cubs in Rochdale

Now if only FBB could follow Branch Instructions, he would have avoided a night in the Liverpool cells

Hey all, thanks for the kind comments about the old Rochdale Branch and nice to hear there are still options around the Rochdale area for us Blues!!
I am still around and a season ticket holder and quite often in the main check out here quite often.
The old Rochdale Branch just got to the point that time wise i just did not have enough,it got harder and harder to get guests and in the end it was stopping me enjoying just going to the games!!
I enjoyed it most of the time but in the end it was the right thing for me and i am always around if any of the local branches want a bit of help or ideas on guests etc!!
Never got pushed out or anyone trying to take over, everyone that went to the meetings where top City fans and we had some great nights!! Cheers Mick Thompson

Probably one of the best branches to visit was the old Rochdale branch. Mick put in a lot of time and effort and to listen to very knowledgable blues such as Tom and Phill was a pleasure.

Also in attendance was one of the funniest City fans I ever met, Stephen Hewitt. His articles for the fanzines were legendary , they were so funny and often accompanied by a picture that would have you in stitches. His piss taking of United, Swales etc was legendary.

RIP Stephen.

Stephen had a very unique humour and was a great guy,i gave him and his mum lifts to all home games after the branch finished and his very sudden death came as a great shock and its a huge shame and so much more that he is not still with us to see the recent success!! Those old meetings where in the days when we where in the old division 3 and showed just what being a City fan where about at that time, great characters who came along guest wise and the fans that came along who always believed we would one day be where we are today as Champions!!!! RIP Stephen i am sure he is watching from up there at the 'RIP City Supporters Branch'!!!
Mick

I'm the shy quiet type so never got round to joining a supporters club! In all seriousness i would have found the socialising part too difficult back in the day. I'm a bit better at it now ;)
But i did still used to go to some of the Dale meetings, me and my bf would walk to spotland, they were good nights - we'd be the ones sat at the back ;) I remember going to one with Paul Lake and Kit Symons, days before the liverpool relegation match - i told Kit we would stay up ahem! And dennis tueart with alfie haaland one time, richard jobson another, and david bernstein along with Dales chairman, and john wardle. The last one i was at had the wonderful Roy Clarke along with Paddy Fagan.
Happy days..
