Is there any way back into fans’ hearts for Cancelo?

Pep admitted the difference last season was the physicality in our defending and a desire to win every challenge, Cancelo can’t defend and certainly doesn’t have the desire to put his body on the line .

As a fan base we don't boo many past players, unlike at many other teams.
We usually give them a generous round of applause, maybe a cheer and not unknown for their song to be sung.
Gabriel and Zinchenko for example.

Milner was an exception.
Cancelo, is another.

It's weird that Bayern want a new right back but would rather have a 33 year old Walker than Cancelo. As players who nominally play the same position their relative strengths and weaknesses are worlds apart.
I could see Cancelo making an impact further forward if he were to be rehabilitated - maybe as a replacement for Kev until he gets back fit - but doubt whether Pep would trust him with such as important role.
The best option would probably find a suitable swap deal so we could get a useful player and Cancelo could move on with his career.

If he understands there is no move for him there's much worse utility players to have. Make your apologies, play your best, earn the move you want from limited minutes. It's not long since he lead the team in key passes, interceptions and tackles per 90.
