Is this Coalition Goverment Doomed

I think whichever party is in office they are doomed and hamstrung while we are being dictated to by an unelected bunch of cuckoo clock makers in brussels.

What are the odds on the the Liberals and Conservatives joining up permanently ? IIRC that has happened in the past when there has been a coalition government.
Some might, especially the more prominent members i.e. those in government. Otherwise, a splinter party is more likely along SDP lines.

Be careful what you wish for.

Without the calming hand of the Lib Dems the Tories would run amok. If the Conservatives had won in 2010 things would be far, far worse in terms of social policy etc..
This. I think Labour are the best of the top 3 parties, although Ed Milliband shouldn't be in charge. Also I think Labour would be better if the Unions didn't hold sway over them.
In answer to the question of the OP, the coalition will last until the next election and then Labour will win. People are sick of the cuts and will look to labour.

They won't win the next election though so ASAP'll do for me.

You think Labour will get a working majority?

Doomed? No. Collapse is not inevitable. However I think it's likely and would put a timeframe of less than eighteen months on it. If in eighteen months the Liberal Democrats are still polling around 10% in opinion polls, I think they'll have to leave. The longer they stay the longer it will take to repair the damage. Being in this coalition has hurt them hugely. They've destroyed two decades of careful building in two years. Indeed, it might well be more than that. As a political force in the House of Commons it looks like they're finished for a while after the next election. How long it takes to rebuild will depend on how forgiving the British people are and that'll depend on how long they stay. What do they even have to show for it? A laughably failed referendum on AV that even the strongest proponents of electoral reform (such as myself), found hard to justify, and House of Lords reform that I also hope fails miserably.

The Lib Dems are never going to get into power off their own backs in a month of Sundays ... if they didn't manage it last time with Cleggs excellent pre-election speeches , then they'll never do it ...... no wonder he jumped at the only option avaiable to him , at least he's got to rule 'in part'!

Trouble is that even if the Coalition DID depart , we'd be no better off ......

all we'd then be left with then is a New Labour party who were an utter shambles and an embarrassment , and quite frankly still are ...... and a fair proportion of the huge debt that Labour landed us with in the first place!

Who will carry them on.

FWIW, I don't know any real human that has even mentioned the cuts (other than on here), let alone noticed them or are "sick" of them. It's just the usual noisy minority.

I think the Tories will poll the most votes at the next election and there will be another coalition. They are doing remarkably well for mid term and will have some vote winners by the time we get to vote again.

dont know how a total success can appear "doomed" but i do know we'd be doomed if labour were anywhere near number ten.

Bit disingenuous to call it a total success; even members of the governing parties won't say it's been 100% successful. This government has been a flip-flopping mess for quite some time on many issues, introducing some frankly ludicrous policy proposals (see: pasty tax, return to O level/CSE two tier system). The amount of u-turns this government has done over the past two years is staggering. Their economic policies are flagging, there is no plan for growth, no realistic help to jobseekers other than the 'scroungers' hyperbole they get their right wing press mates to pump out. There aren't enough jobs to go round and they're burying their heads in the sand pretending that those out of work are out of work because they want to sit at home watching Jeremy Kyle all day, with Sky HD paid for through their benefits etc etc. It's absolute bollocks and they know it.

I'm not saying Labour are necessarily 'the' answer right now; I'm a party member and I have a fair few issues with current policy/leadership styles etc. On the subject of Lords reform, it will certainly remain a sticking point well into the future of this government. Will it bring it down? Possibly - if the whole Lords reform bill goes down the pan, boundary changes and the reduction of MP numbers will follow it. It depends how the Tories play it in the future, because last night's vote showed the huge number of Tory backbenchers who are against it. I hope it doesn't lead to a snap election, because I think Labour need a longer period out of office to gather their thoughts and new policy ideas. If a snap election was called as a result of a crumbling coalition I think a hung parliament/Lab largest party would be likely, but not necessarily the best thing for the long term credibility of the party.

They are 7/4 to do so
No majority 6/4
Tories majority 9/4
