Is this insane story about City and the Clueless one true?!

The figure mooted to take Walcott was 3 million pounds according to that charlatan Pearce. Another in a long line of clueless moronic decisions the chest beating little Englander made whilst managing City.

That was the figure Wigley thought we should be prepared to pay for him, not one that Southampton would have sold for (he went for five times as much months later). Pearce had never seen him so couldnt justify spending the money.

FWIW Walcott was being chased by Arsenal, Chelsea etc. We would never have stood a chance if we did agree a fee.

We are signing Figo!

Not as daft as it sounds. Brian Horton had teed it all up for a 19 year old Figo to come to City back in the day. Unfortunately, Barcelona blew us out of the water with a 2 million pound bid and the rest as they say is history!

It was a year before he moved to Arsenal and it was a crucial year as it was his debut season for Southampton. We'd have been offering 3 million for a youth team player. History now I suppose but it was the summer we sold SWP. I'm sure if Pearce had had anything about him he would've seen the lads potential and at least attempted to do a deal.

So I understood at the time. Brian who?? Louis who??? Would have been amazing though. Don't think he'd have won Nicky Summerbee's place. He had the hardest shot in the universe.
