Is this our best team yet?

This is the team with the highest potential: the team with the most solid defence and the team with most creativity (with several playmakers in Cancelo, Rodri, Gundo, Bernie, Kevin, Grealish and Foden: unreal!!). It won't win 100 pts (this season) and won't win the domestic treble. It may surpass the previous teams in Europe, though. And it may surpass the previous teams in how it dominates the rivals on the pitch, i.e., in terms of peak performances. Let's see what happens. Hopefully we avoid serious injuries.

It’s our best defence yet, (goalkeeper and back four)… it’s nowhere near our best attack though.

The attack has two dimensions: chances and goals.

Re: chances, this team is as good as any City team under Pep. I believe this is Pep's most creative City team, it's full of creators: Cancelo, Rodri, Gundogan, Bernardo, Grealish, Foden and KDB. And Jesus and Mahrez are very good at assisting goals as well! The Centurions had 3 main creators in KDB, David and Sane: not as many as the current team (specially IF Kevin regains form).

Re: goals, this team seems "nowhere near our best attack" due to the current numbers. But IF (not a small if, granted, but not a big either) Kevin, Foden and Grealish hit form, then we'll score many goals again. Our fixtures have been very difficult so far, more so than in previous seasons, and we have had injuries to creative players: Kevin, Foden, Grealish, Gundo... I expect that we'll start to score many goals soon. Might be wrong, time will tell.

Quadruple, let's have it right ; p

All three of Pep's title winning sides were all great in their own way but I think there were always the odd occasions where we were the second best team on the day, mainly against Liverpool.

This season however, I think is the first time where I can confidently say we're going to be the better team no matter who we play. Whether it's Liverpool, Chelsea or PSG we dominate them and play them off the park.

That doesn't mean this a better team because 2017-19 City is in my opinion the best club side English football has seen until now but it's just something that has become very apparent to me this season.

Disagree. We struggle against Stockley Park United. Those front 3 of Oliver, Tierney and Atwell are devastating and very difficult to contain

It’s easy to make a rash judgement on how good or bad a team is based on what’s not yet the half-way point of the season. This lot certainly have the potential to be up there with the very best but we won’t know for another six months whether this is the ultimate combination of trophies and winning them in truly breathtaking fashion.

One thing’s for certain. Trying to decide which City team of recent years is the best is a lovely problem to have!
