Is this the turning point?

We could win the league and a cup but the quality of our FBs will see us caught out somewhere in the CL.
You are possibly right. At the very highest level, then we could come up short, and have done in the past.

But in domestic league games these players especially Kolarov have been called all sorts on this board, and today he had a very good game indeed. I feel we could improve in the full back position. I also think Zabaleta will come back, but he might not be at his best this season. He's got more years in him yet

I disagree. 1st half they were flooding forward as a team. Sometimes they passed it slowly from the back, but at other times they broke and had loads of players running up in support of the man on the ball

2nd half they broke rarely, and when they did only 1 or 2 broke to support the man on the ball. That maybe because they were tired, but I'd be surprised if that was the case. I suspect it was tactical because it was so soon after the 1st half
That's coz they had few 2nd half breakaway chances. And on 2 of them early in the 2nd half, about 4 guys were barring down. The guy on the left, the guy Ota stripped the ball off, and another streaking on the far right. Plus the guy who made the pass.

The way you know they weren't defending a lead, is simply because their defensive end wasn't any more crowded in the 2nd than it was in the 1st.

They needed a win, so by the time we equalised they then in turn needed to press us but by then the damage was already done, they looked tired and dejected and started making stray passes from about 5 yards away from eachother.

I'm not complaining I'm just being a realist that this result won't kick start us because our problems are still there.
Learn to enjoy the moment mate.

It was a frustrating game today bar about 6 minutes, and some of the defending was very poor from City. A great win in the end due to frustration of the first 80 mins, however hardly anything to get carried away with.

Well I'll digest what you say and maybe I'll get the chance to see it again. It was certainly one-way traffic and a very different 2nd half.

Let's not get carried away .
In the first half I saw the same mistakes , I have been seeing since last season .
Any decent team would have stuffed us tonight .

i disagree with people saying that gladbach are not a half decent team... they haven't lost since the last time we beat them and they stuffed munich 3-1 at weekend. they are a very good team, better than the rags anyway

There was something about the way we responded when the Seville v Juve score came through. We proved we can turn it up a notch when we have to. That could be a turning point.

You'd have to be a miserable sod to dwell on the negatives and not just enjoy tonight.

And no one left either.

I liked the way the german team went over to their fans afterwards and stayed with them.

Very happy to have secured first place.

In terms of whether the team has reached a turning point I think its debatable. When Silva scored I was anticipating a complete performance, to go on and win 2-0 or 3-0. Whilst the outcome was much more dramatic, a greater sense of elation at the end, I would still have preferred a 2-0 or 3-0.

We have had one complete performance at Sevilla, three excellent results from quite mixed performances and two defeats from disappointing but not that bad performances. If the wins had been the other way round, if it had been three convincing wins and one dodgy performance, I would definitely think we had reached a turning point. As it is I think we're still better described as a work in progress.

Exactly, being a football fan is all about great moments and this was one of them.

It was a similar great moment to when we beat Bayern. But in terms of it representing a turning point for the fans? That's more likely to come when we stick 4 past a top team.

Very enjoyable last night. Turning point? Not really. For me we are currently in that group of second tier teams like PSG and Juve that potentially can beat the big 3 on a good day but are still unlikely to win the competition. The turning point, which may occur in the New Year if we get all our big players fit, will be when we beat one of the big 3 over two legs. Then we can say that we have truly arrived and are serious contenders. Finishing first in the group of death is no mean achievement though and gives me hope that the real break through is coming.
