Istanbul song

Two daft questions I think: /

Well one daft question after you deleted your "what does rag mean": /
Is it?
I grew up listening to ridicule from arrogant reds. Rubbing it my face for years because that's their arrogant mentality. That is why I cannot stand the horrible ****s! Don't get me wrong, I'm fucking loving the way they're falling to bits at the moment, it makes me smile every time I read another article about problems at that club. And, of course I'd like to give it to them on Derby day but I don't want our fans to develop the same arrogant mentality. And I don't get this obsession about singing about them every other song, even during a cup game against a lower league side.

I'm too long in the tooth to become like a typical rag mate of arrogant expectancy. If we went down next season is be gutted but I'd still go to games. I've never forgotten where we were and I think everything we win nowadays is a big bonus. Being a blue was never about having more support, more trophies and a bigger stadium, but we eventually may have more support, more trophies and a bigger stadium. I probably won't live long enough to see it, but I'm living to see them being less of a threat nowadays, but things can and probably will change for their better and our worse.

I have several red mates I've known years. I don't need to wind them up, I just grin at their current demise with a bit of banter thrown in to remind them they are history, whilst we are the present and future. That well and truly sickens them, so I don't need to rub it in further: )

Rags ( on the other hand) is a term I use for United fans who are arrogant know nowt expectant gob shites. The ones who have no natural affinity to United and only 'support' them on TV through success. Mark Goldbridge is the epitome of a typical rag IMO. My mates are just decent reds who support the other lot, and we've had football banter together for years, usually in the pub. They are a bit quiet nowadays though; )

I don't ever want us(collectively) to become like the rags have been with us, but singing a few songs about them in their current misery, yeah why not?

The irony of 'City are a massive club'...lol.

Well, I can't argue with any of that mate.

To be honest I loved the original Instanbul song. It felt like we had a glimpse of maybe winning something in the coming season by some fluke or otherwise.

I was gutted when were knocked out (can’t remember who by).

What’s the dipper we song we adapted too?

Lost on me.

Istanbul song was great on that UEFA Cup run in 2008/09 season.

Thoughts on a change in the lyrics for the Allez Allez song, given Liverpool won the Champions League? Also, more importantly, as we won the domestic treble, perhaps use the tune to make it more of a celebratory chant for us instead?

Thoughts?

All the way to Wembley,
To end up in success,
Guardiola's Army,
We simply were the best,
Vinny scored a screamer,
To end the Scouser's dreams,
City won the treble,
And United won fuck all

Allez Allez Allez
Allez Allez Allez
Allez Allez Allez
I want that chant, in any form, banned!

I’ve never hated a chant so much.

What’s this weird obsession with about 250 clubs around Europe all singing it and singing “go go go” in French?!

Fuck it off for good!
