I hated this man ever since I learned to read a set of accounts in the early 90s, I was a fan up to this point.

He was in the MEN one Friday pre season saying that we had loads to spend on players but it was clear from what I could now see that we didnt.

Ruined the club, see him now through my old cynical and I hope wiser eyes.

Pleased to say me and a couple of mates were at Gorton Bus Station for a FWF meet and we suggested the Season Ticket boycott and it got taken up by Buzzer and co and made the MEN back page the following night.

The classic for me was the chairman's season preview page that he always did in the first programme of the season when the headline one year read " Priority this season is not a trophy "....talk about lack of ambition ! Think it was late 70s or early 80s.Of course then years later the multiple choice question joke was what year did Swales say this ? 73,74,75,77,78,79,80,81,82,83,84,85,86,87,88,89.....etc !

Great video on Swales, thanks for posting. His missus couldn’t wait to get him out of the door at the start there, funnily enough.

The other City videos on the site are interesting as well, particularly the one where Dennis Tueart re-signs. Proof, if it were needed, of the long-standing downer the media has toward us - the miserable git interviewing him manages to squeeze in a reference to the weather at the end as well. Plus ca change!

What a small-time, insecure **** Swales really was. He loved giving it the Billy Big Bollocks, but he was actually a deeply unimpressive man.

I worked there for a while getting work experience in 1981 and got to meet him more than once. An extremely unimpressive ****.
