It’s hot

Thirty billies from B and M and operating quieter than the blade typo's.

Sorry.

Did we ? Everyone goes on and on about 76 , so I’m guessing that was unusual for the time. How hot idi it get in 76 anyway?
It was definitely warm. It was hot most of June July and August. To give an idea, snippet from news article:

The hottest temperature recorded was a sweltering 35.9C in Cheltenham. The heatwave began on June 23 and continued for 15 sweaty days until July 7, with the temperature in Wales exceeding 32.2C every day, and going above 35C on five of those days.

No i know it was hot and dry for a long period, but the fact we are still going on about it shows that summer was an exception and the 70s weren't full of hot long days. Or that would be my guess without checking. Plus as you say this week we are talking temperatures in the 40s so it isn't the same.

42 degrees in Sheffield on Tuesday, apparently, before dropping like a stone on Wednesday.

In 1988 I spent Christmas Day on the beach in Adelaide (Glenelg); that was 40 and unbearable and not just because the Oz beer was gash.

Certainly working for me today. Did everything I needed to do outdoors before 9am. Windows shut, curtains closed & sat in my living room with a big fan in front of me. Gazpacho for lunch & loads of water & Vimto being supped. Currently 30c outdoors & 22c indoors. Perfect!
