I'm not saying he won't but there's no guarantee he will be better than he is now. I remember all those stating Phillips would be great for us, just needed a bit of time. Never heard a peep out of them when the penny dropped.

We’ve long been too timid in the transfer market, and it’s now biting us on the arse. Yes teams that spend money like water also fuck up, eg rags, but they overpaid for shit. If you choose the top players then pay what it takes to convince them, their clubs, agents, and family that City with Pep is the place to be.

Our poor ambition with transfers isn’t just the last couple of summers either. Imagine if we’d outbid scousers for van Dijk instead of thinking £75m was too much. Looks a fucking bargain now. Same with Rice, up the offers until he decided he wasn’t that desperate to stay in London.

Secondly, we need more leaders in the team. Why the obsession with someone being a nice, humble guy? How about some fucking winners whose heads won’t go down when we concede a goal? We need players that will refuse to lose, refuse to put up with little wankers at arsenal celebrating like they won the fucking World Cup. We need to get under opponent’s skins, get them sent off or not fancying it. Get in their fucking faces non-stop.

I despise our softness. The whole club needs to fucking man up. No lying down taking it while the shitty red cartel sneer about oil money and 115. Fuck ‘em all.

Fucking spend. Ambition! Fuck ffp, fuck tebas, fuck the media and its rag sycophants. Let’s rebuild a team of winners again.

Said it in another thread we need a Rodrigo De Paul type player, not him as he's too old now but a younger version. Just a real horrible bastard who does all the graft and let's the players play. Sick of seeing our players lose 50 50s, pull out of tackles, lose headers or get knocked about. Need some nastiness about us.

A 50% hit rate does seem about right when you buy players who aren’t top class, who aren't generally being chased by the top teams and when you have to hope that they become top players.

When you buy the likes of David Silva, Aguero, De Bruyne and Haaland, the odds improve significantly.

The pressure is on big time this summer and I hope we show more ambition than we have in recent windows.

United are in that £100mill bracket for 2 bad signings. There can’t be many other clubs.

We’re not talking about an individual club scout watching a match on Sunday morning in a park.

We’re talking about a whole transfer department consisting of numerous people like Txiki and some of the best scouts in football, with a player data base which is one of the best in the world.

To get two expensive player signings close together so wrong is very poor.
