It’s Quiet 20 - What is the Wirtz that could happen?

He's not joining to be second choice when he can be first choice elsewhere.
I think he'd get plenty of minutes if he came back.

With our injuries this season, hopefully it's hit home that we're going to need a full squad in the future and that there will and should be more rotation. It looks like we're building a young squad with that in mind, so i'd be looking to bring him back.

We've seen in the last two games without Erling that we look a bit toothless up front and i think with Delap being a similar type of player, would fit right in.

I don't see Delap returning especially with Marmoush signing. Other areas still need attending to first and foremost.

Marmoush is gonna struggle if he has to play as the striker.

We saw Pep actually play Foden f9, just to let Marmoush continue his role, but he pairs way better with an actual striker, not a midfielder.

We have to be careful of over reliance on an individual player (Rodri), even if Haaland got injured for 1 month, thatd be a catastrophe to have no striker for like 8 games in a row.

Can't really see whats in it for Delap,
As far as I understand buy back clauses Ipswich have to sell if we want to buy and Delap wants to come, but if Delap doesn't want to come we cannot then buy him. We can only activate the clause with Delaps consent.

I think in a lot of their cases they're appearing fucked because they're being relied on for most games when they should be taking a bit of a back seat, I'd say most of them could do a great job once a week or off the bench... But they'd have to halve their wages which would be the issue
Ain’t nobody got time for that.

Delap will get less game time if he did join us and I don't think he'll want to stall his career. Marmoush is decent cover and we have to start gettting the other players chipping in with the goals first rather than sign another player. The Summer transfer window is for signing players who are replacing some of our aging stars and significantly improve us.

The nature of it being a buyback clause means consent was already given.

Its already in the contract, neither Ipswich nor Delap can reneg on it.

Are you sure ? I thought the buyback agreement was with the club not the player.

Never 100% as im not a lawyer.

But I assume the nature of it means its tied to both. As in the player must have agreed to it at the time as well.

So for example, if we didnt buy him, and Ipswich sold him, then yeah, we cant just buy him back from his new club.

I think the summer is for what you said, replacing aging stars.

But part of it is also not being reliant on certain players due to fitness, like Rodri, and why Nico is vital.

We have alot of winger options, great, so if one goes out we replace and retain our style of play.

But at 30m, City has to do whats in our best interests, having a backup striker at only 30m is surely too good a deal for us to pass on?

The buy back clause is negotiated with the buying club.

It allows us to speak to the player if we offer the amount negotiated in the clause.

It does not mean that the player has to accept our offer.

I think Marmoush is a great player and you could argue although Alvarez was a better 9 Marmoush is a better 10 so can play with Haaland but also be his back up. Haaland of fit will play every game unless suspended. Injuries happen, rests happen and cup rotations happen. But he’s our main guy.

Marmoush can play upfront we just need to get used to the differences and change how we play. Haaland is a completely different player. I actually think he’s wondered in games because it’s almost like we are playing Foden as a false 9 and Marmoush behind him until he gets more settled.

What was frustrating against the dippers is how many times we crossed the ball! If Haaland was on the pitch we wouldn't have bothered.

It’s basic human rights. They are employees (and do incredibly well) but they will always have the say. Mandatory buy backs can’t exist surely.
Yeah, the only way it could work really is if we offered a huge salary and/or signing in fee that the player couldn’t refuse.

Delap isn't coming back here for a support role. He's the main man at ipswich, he's doing well there and has a taste of it now, coming back here to that kind of role is a backward step when you look at the options he will have.

he'll have admirers in the premier league when they go down that will be willing to make him their main guy. If they're middling sides, its still a better prospect as he can prove himself there playing every week and then perhaps push for a bigger move but he might even have a club in similar stature to us come straight in for him this summer.

arsenal and Chelsea both need a striker, Dippers might be after one too if they dump that donkey Nunez, if newcastle had to sell isak, hes a great potential replacement and looking much further down, united would love to have him.

If we had loaned him out last season instead of selling, we'd obviously be in control of his immediate future but also I think it's much more likely he's willing to come back and accept a lesser role. just don't see why he'd do that now though.

Shame because if he's still on our books, he'd be a brilliant alternative to haaland for us next season. We could play the same way, we would be able to manage Haaland better and we'd be able to find him enough minutes, we'd also have the option of throwing them both in, if we're chasing games having both on the pitch in thr box is potentially a potent and somewhat old school weapon.

I know it’s easier said than done but I’d get delap back and then use him in a swap plus cash for isak.
Delap would probably be up for the move but it’s wether pep would want to play 2 strikers as well
