It’s Quiet 20 - What is the Wirtz that could happen?

What are peoples’ thoughts on this quote? Makes it seem like Pep isn’t too keen on signing these really young centre backs, he wants players with more experience that can contribute immediately. But it’s the club that is going for the extreme youth.

The quote was from the embargoed section of the press conference. In context he was pointing out the realities that for optimal immediate results you want experienced players at their peak but for financial reasons clubs are now tending to buy more young players.

So,if Reis, Marmosh, Khusonov and Echeverri, come in and Walker leaves. Only 3 can gointo the C/L squad and do we have room for anyone else in the Pl squad without somebody else leaving?

Yeah the PL squad is ok for all the u21 which is at least 2 of the above.

I can't think of a club in the league that hasn't bought from us
Directly or indirectly, there are loads of premier clubs with ex city players

I recall when Milner was at liverpool in his final season there, nearly every club had a player that had been with us.

I believe it's February after the Under 20 championships. If true, then surely Reis would be the same ?

All I can find is we signed him in January 2024, and left him on a year long loan till January 2025. Doesnt say when that ends though.

Prem squad is fine, u21's dont have to be registered? Unless it helps with the home-grown quota of course.

I've always maintained that the injuries and decline in individual form didn't start this season. The amber light was already flashing last spring, and the warning signs were all too evident when we ran out of gas against Real Madrid and then that lot at Wembley. We also knew that there would be no respite in the summer for the vast majority of players, so we now find ourselves buying sticking plasters in January whilst in between directors of football. It's far from ideal in terms of a smooth transition, but in its defence, I guess the club had never found itself in this position before. A learning experience for all of us.
Sort of get that. But to loose Rodri was a hammer blow. Then long term absenses for Stones, Dias, KDB, Kovacic, Bobb and fitness concerns for Walker, Foden and others have been catestrophic.
Even if we had bought players in during the summer we would still have struggled.
That said we need a Rodri alternative to share the load, account for him being injured and to occasionally play with a double pivot to reduce the chances of conceding in certain big games.
