It’s Quiet 20 - What is the Wirtz that could happen?

Hard disagree. Even when they don't print it, the journos always know who it is that's being targeted. Khusanov was known by the City guys back in November. People won't believe this but it's absolutely true; journos often have to have multiple sources or really strong links rather than just gossip before they're willing to print something. The guys worth their salt anyway, and there also might be conflicts with the club. 99% of signings are known long before they go to print.
The fact everybody knows we're in for someone but nobody seemingly knows who it is is a definite rarity.
Not saying the club wont brief but when they don't wanna on important targets they'll shut up shop easy. The midfielder target will be in this bracket now. It one I'd put in the rarity category of the club decided, nothing gets out. Let them guess till we want, they confirm nothing and shut down stupid.

Even if he was back in April the damage will have been done. We have an incredibly difficult set of fixtures from now to the middle of March, if we play as we did yesterday we will really struggle for points, despite our improved attacking performance. Our midfield is incapable of providing any cover out of possession and our back 4 is getting pummelled.

We desperately need a competent defensive midfielder.
Could not agree more. The other signings are all well and good but we are crying out for a DM and have been ever since Rodri went down against arsenal nearly 4 months ago. It's the most obvious glaring hole we've had in the side for years and it seems they've done absolutely nothing and continue to do nothing address it.

We don't know that at all.

Ederson could well leave, potentially Grealish, Bernardo. You said 1 or 2 when it's already looking like 3 this window alone. I will guarantee that between this week and the end of the summer window we will have more than 1 or 2 arrivals for a number of reasons. Do you think this will happen?

Main team
Rodri
Foden
Haaland
Gvardiol
Savino
Akanji

Could go or back up

Walker wants out gone
Ederson wants out gone

Ortega back up
Lewis back up
Kovacic back up
Doku back up

Gundo go
Silva go
Nunes go
Kdb go
Stones go

One massive rebuild!

We Know pep though he probably keep majority of go players

Possibly but who knows. I just can't comprehend how a few posters think 1 or 2 new signings is all we need. It could be 3 in this week even before the summer merry go round gets going.

Most of the info journos get come from outside the club or internal sources that aren't official. It is rare that there's this level of need and acknowledgement there's a deal and that nobody seems to know who.

I can't come up with a good reason why this might be tbh. Scott might have a better idea. @tolmie's hairdoo

I would keep Kev, and replace Akanji personally.

Think its only rare for key buys which this is/will be (and hoping more silence is good again, might be my copium though)

A lot of that team last night had a break at the weekend, why are they fucked physically and mentally? If they are, sub them! We've got loads of options available in attacking areas now, Pep needs to stop picking them if they can't put the effort in. A major part of our success, alongside the talent of the players and tactics from the manager, was the workrate which was always superb. That's gone out the window and whilst injuries/fatigue were a valid excuse a month or so ago they don't remain one now.

Compare the likes of Foden, Savinho and De Bruyne to the minutes played by Salah or some of those Brentford players.

We've got some talented youngsters who would run their socks off if picked. Foden was full of energy when it came to getting his 2nd goal, but in the first half he barely got into a jog when it came to tracking back and defending. Pep would have dragged him off at HT in previous seasons.
A one game break isn't enough. Gundogan, Kev, Bernardo and maybe a couple more will never be the same again. They are broken.

As for why Pep keeps picking them, fucking no clue mate. Baffles me.
Maybe Gundogan will stand up like Kyle and get a way out for the sake of the team.

I don’t think we are going to buy a midfielder. Hope I am wrong but no real links like the other players.

Can’t understand it tbh.

Half the month gone now, and still no sign of us addressing the dire midfield deficiency - an area that's been clearly shot to pieces for over 3 months.

2 kid centre halves & an attacking player from the Bundesliga aren't going to fix the fundamental problems for us, which were again on display last night. We aren't mobile enough in the central area, have no serviceable player in the essential position in the system we play and thus our formation is currently akin to a ring donut with a huge gap in the middle.

Ipswich on Sunday will be a far more difficult game than it should be - frankly it could be an uncomfortable watch but we've done nothing to rectify our major problem, and need to score at least 3 to win a game.

The clock's ticking & it remains rather baffling what we are doing in the transfer market. The central midfield area is on its absolute arse.

Premier league i would say yes mate but a couple i think would have to go or taken off the champions league list maybe.
Lol, I don't think a time will ever come when I can get my head round that list/register thing, HG, club trained, b.list etc....

These guys just repost stuff but interesting there is no source. Might see someone else report this, might not.
