It’s Quiet 20 - What is the Wirtz that could happen?

Those that think it's FIFA may think so.
Well, you thought signing more than 2 plays would be considered "FIFA". You did not see us sign more than 2 signings because this isn't "FIFA".

ACCORDING TO YOU:
"We only have room for 2 unless players leave which is highly unlikely"

"The only question is which of them if any can we get in January. Hopefully 2 but if we can’t then we can’t."

"2 signings are all we can make in January"!

Those that understand the real world and how difficult and complicated these things are, not so much.
Well, you’re definitely not one of those who understands how the 'real world' works—at least when it comes to CITY’s version of the real world. Clearly, City is out here playing FIFA in real life… oh, sorry, in 'the real world.'

With EDS player like McFarlane and Echeverri aside, we’re already at three signings, and we’re still going for more… in January!

Yes, things may be 'difficult and complicated,' but the club clearly isn’t letting that get in the way of getting deals done.

At this point, I don’t think any of us truly know what the club is doing or how it’s moving. This has been a very exciting January window, and with all your understanding of how the 'real world' works, Even you can’t seem to envision their next move. Maybe the club will act quickly to avoid hemorrhaging points like they have in the past 14-15 games.

City is operating on a completely different level, defying expectations and moving in ways that nobody seems able to predict. Just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, they pull something out of the bag that nobody saw coming. It’s not just exciting—it’s unprecedented.

Whatever plans the club has, they’re keeping them close to the chest, and honestly, that’s part of the thrill. While the rest of us are trying to make sense of it all, City is out here making bold moves and proving they don’t play by anyone else’s rules. Ex: 9.5 Yr extension for a key player, just like that!

Whether you think signing three players in January is something achievable only in FIFA or not, right now, CITY doesn’t give a s***. They’re playing FIFA. For all we know, we could wake up tomorrow with another signing already done—or not. Only CITY knows!

Nonetheless, I get your real world view!

Well done yes I did and I was wrong so what.

I'll repeat what I said last week or whenever. Every journalist in the Manchester scene KNOWS that City are working on a midfielder. None of them, off the record, seem to know who it is.

Transfers aren't a secret, there's too many people involved. One of the journalists will get a whisper from someone and they'll generally gossip with others to see if they've heard or can confirm. So even before it goes to print, you know what's coming. This is how @tolmie's hairdoo has been ITK for so long, his sources and the gossip in the trade that hasn't hit the back pages yet. (It's nice to be finally able to acknowledge that Scott knew what he was talking about all along btw as many of us have stressed over the years)

But nobody has a clue who it is. And that's a weird situation. Nobody is talking. People will give info on the 115 case off the record with the "anonymous source/protect relationships" stuff and that's the most important thing that has happened in the modern history of this football club. But nobody is saying anything about the midfielder.

Here's my guess, and I stress that this is a total guess. I think the midfielder is coming from Viana exclusively. I think it might be someone who he has already done a lot of groundwork with or has a pre-existing relationship so there's little need for all the usual hoop jumping that would happen if this went through the City ranks. We already know that Reis is a Viana signing and although Khusanov was "on the list" in November, if you look at the profile of the player then he's more the type of risky player that goes to a Sporting than signs for City. Khusanov should sign for City as the club after his next one. Marmoush is a typical Txiki signing imo.

That's the only way this makes sense to me. The only other option I can think of, and this seems highly unrealistic, is that it's a controversial signing like a Zubimendi who Arsenal think they've got wrapped up. But I think it's the Viana thing, unless somebody else has got any ideas?
If it’s a release clause signing there doesn’t need to be as much gossip in theory, other than the agent & player we can just rock up and pay the dollars.

Yes, it would be entirely down to what the player wants, that said I'm not really sure Zubimendi is the player we want.

I know you and I haven’t always agreed on everything but this post is absolutely spot on.

I think the only other explanation is that the mystery midfielder is potentially divisive like Mainoo, but your theory makes more sense to me.

Nothing. All I’m saying is that City will do what it wants to do. If it decides to fast-track getting a player, it will—whether it fits your 'real world' version of doing things or not. And if your perception of it falls under the realm of 'FIFA,' then City will play FIFA and that might just shatter your views on "the real world".

What City do has nothing to do with how fast and how long transfers take, Other clubs, players our negitiating, visas, all drag tranfers out.Expecting them done quicker than they are done isn't realistic. As we can see, the deals for Khusonov and Reis were agreed ages ago, they still aren't fully done.

Ah, the good old, Brighton mirage that everybody is still falling trap to. The reality is, we’ve gone past Brighton’s low cost, Ryanair signings, and the fact that we have failed to properly adapt to that, and recognise it, is in part why we’ve reached the “premature ejaculation” stage this season.

If we were to repeat the rebuild of 2017 nowadays, we would probably breach £400 million without trying. Hence the market value deception which a lot of fans still haven’t properly adapted to.

The reality is, that if we are indeed rebuilding then some of the puzzles pieces will cost eye watering sums, and the fact that we have spunked 100 milion on two mediocre players in the past, Matheus and Kalvin, should stand clear about how much money we actually need to invest for it to work. And quickly.

Bellingham and Rice cannot be repeated. Neither can Gundogan and Kovacic. Both avenues should be irrevocably closed. So yes, I’m talking £100 million plus player required.

No point doing it, if not.
Brighton isn’t really a mirage. They have a model that identifies the best potential in the World and Liverpool offered them £50 million for it which was turned down. All three of City’s potential transfers Brighton tried to sign which gives me confidence in them.

Spending huge sums obviously guarantees you nothing…just look at United.

I do agree that we can only take so many gambles especially in Midfield. I would love Florian Wirtz at some point.

Baleba would not be cheap so I like that City appear to be missing out the middleman. I do think he is a genuine talent though and would improve significantly under Pep.

Who do you guys think the mystery midfielder we're targeting could be? Are we expecting a top-tier player or just a backup option? If somehow Bruno G came into the picture, that would be insane. We’d definitely be making a strong statement for the CL. Personally, I wouldn’t go for Zubimendi. Once Rodri’s back, I can’t see him fitting into a threeman midfield.

So, I think Damocles may be referring to a signing like Rashford who Pep could easily turn into this very good midfielder we're after - this is why it's under wraps as it would be bigger than signing Haaland to a 9.5 year deal. Pep could work wonders with Rashford given his speed, his world class skill set and his work rate off the ball. It would blow the country apart.......

Which three ? When where were they linked with Brighton ?

Brighton a mirage ?

I would rather us sign Pogba if that was the case.
Honestly stranger things have happened.

But when we looked last time I think he said he wouldn't do it because of the threats and he's had a lot of shit going on off the field last few years.

The three we are about to sign?

I was replying to Mafeo.

I think we have done this to death and I’ve provided you with links before. At some point you need to do a bit of research yourself. I have zero interest in trying to change your mind.
