#ManCity target, Omar Marmoush will play for Eintracht Frankfurt vs Borussia Dortmund on Friday night, says manager Dino Toppmöller. [emoji3514]

Toppmöller: "Omar will play tomorrow, under normal circumstances. He’s in my plans..." [emoji1093]

Just seen Geoff Thomas hitching a lift to Manchester about an hour south of Wolverhampton - any ITK got any updates or confirmation of our interest ?

Halfway through the month now. Farcical that no transfer has been officially completed. It's been common knowledge since the autumn that we needed to bring players in this month. I'd have thought that Txiki would have been moving heaven and earth to get these transfers to the stage where they could be officially signed early in the window. But nothing. And Marmoush will apparently be playing for Frankfurt tomorrow night.
Don't be talking sense/logic on this thread Jim. The Bluemoon Boot Boys will be rounding on you :-)

I put in the Ipswich thread this

................Ortega...........
..........Akanji. Dias. Ake
....Nunes Kovacic. Bernardo. Gvardiol
.... . KDB. Savinho
.......... Haaland

Less attack minded than some of the others and can swap it to a 1-2 up front or swap KDB & Foden. I was thinking of a lineup Pep may feasibly use - making use of the attacking strength of Nunes/Josko while mitigating their weakness. Fuck knows if it would be effective
3 over 30 players in the middle plus Haaland is a problem. Its why our press is like Swiss cheese.

I like the formation. But im wary of our aging stars.

People have this thing that Stones will be a great defensive midfielder.
He was great playing the inverted role of stepping out of the backline into midfield but whenever Pep actually put him in the proper ‘Rodri’ role he was terrible. I remember 2 awful games v Palace at home in 2018 and Villa away 2023. Other than them games i cannot remember any others where this was asked of Stones
Yeah, even as the inverted support midfielder, they aren't particularly good. Akanji loses the ball a lot more and Stones becomes ultra conservative and simply turns it back and passes to a defender.

This was the beginning of our slow and turgid period last season. Too many have a rosy view of how the system jump-started the treble slowdown but forgot that by the 4ple season it was a drag.

We still need 2 midfielders this window.

We have no one that presses from that front .I know people don't wanna name names or call their favorite players out but when's the last time we saw Foden, Haaland, Gundogan, Doku, Grealish, Savinho, McAtee, Bernardo, Kovacic pressing??

We're wide open as everyone's legs are gone! :(
Haaland is the main problem with the press. He is just shit at it. And that demoralizes everyone around him. Kevin still presses, but ots useless if the other guys dont follow the drill. Savihno does too in bits. So does Phil sometimes. Doku and Haaland are the worst. They take bad angles and or half ass press.

The others, especially Bernado and Gundo start attempting their press after the player receives the ball. This is silly. Only the first player should be pressed late. Every outlet should be identified and and players should be charging towards each outlet as soon as the lead presser heads to the man with the ball ( this should often be Haaland.)

In fairness, i don't think the 5 second rule is being taught by Pep anymore. So many newer signings clearly don't ascribe to it. :(

We need a Teves like player who would press regardless of what the main striker os doing.

But yes, get those mids woth legs or play O'Reilly and Wright

They don't need the money from this sale for a replacement. They won't be spending big money on who they buy (if they do)
Wouldn't know, I have no idea who their targets are, what their financial situation is. Nor do I know what the German spending rules are. Do you ?

One of those rare players I have no recollection of ever watching for us
He put his own money toward that transfer and then broke his leg. Poor bastard.

Edit - he paid the loan fee himself and broke his shoulder 32 mins into his home debut. Close enough, still a poor bastard.

So then it's a possibilty they want to get this done to give them time to bring in another player.
They've made 200 million in sales recently.
The biggest signing in the history of their club is 18m
The highest wage they have ever paid is 55k a week.
Their business model is to buy cheap and sell big.

Don't think they need the cash from this for the replacement .

They prob will try get a loan in anyway

Notoriously hard to buy someone in January :-)
