Dw people get it, jsut can't fathom how we can't identify "anyone" who we think could come in and do a job and/or be the long term option

The Rodri back-up isn't something that's new, they can't have jsut thought about it after his injury

There are players out there, there has to be, that could at least steady the ship and help a sinking ship

We had 4months to identity targets after Rodri ACL and here we are, on the cusp of missing out on top 4 and about to leave the champions league in then group stage

There has to be someone, even if it's an expensive loan move for someone who isnt a priorty target, we have the money
City can identify a list of hundred players. If Pep doesn't want them we won't sign them.

He has final say.

Especially on this position which he has made his trademark in his own playing days and management career with very few ever getting the trust that the likes of Lahm, Busquets, Alonso and Rodri have.

If we don't end up getting Championship League Football for next season it will be an even bigger hit financially on top of trying to attract top players will be a bigger hit than not stumping up in this transfer window.
What does stump up mean ? If the clubs or the players say no to January stump up does nothing. Take Zubimendi , not sure we want him but say we do. It seems obvious he has no intention of moving this month so if hes the man what then . How far down the list are you going to go. Goes for whover our targets are just increasing bids isnt an answer. Sometimes no means no

We got utterly steamrollered last night by a younger high energy team, and I stick unfortunately to my prediction that we will get trounced embarrassingly by one of the big teams we play over the next few weeks unless we make a couple of midfield additions before the window shuts.
By one or every one?

Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle and dippers next 4 league games... all strong in midfield and have pace going forward.

As we are right now I'd be amazed if we manage a return of 4 points from those 4 games.

I said before the window I woukd have been surprised by 2 never mind 3 signings this window. I think if any more do come, it might be late in the window approaching or on deadline day. Once Walker has left we maybe start hearing more.

Not convinced we are that in for Cambiaso and Luiz, ot is beginning to feel more like Italian paper gossip running away with itself a bit. But who knows. Not really been linked with anyone else beyond that.
I'm hopeful it's all smoke and mirrors and we bring in a few off the radar but if you were to name 2 areas we either never buy for or where we usually buy average players not really good enough to become a regular starter then it's those 2 positions.

Ederson
Walker, Dias, Akanji, Ake
Rodri
De Bruyne, Foden
Bernardo, Haaland, Savinho

Ortega
Nunes, Stones, Khusanov, Gvardiol
Kovacic (Lewis)
Gundogan, Grealish
Bobb, McAtee, Doku

For me, based on these XIs, Ederson, Walker, De Bruyne, Bernardo, Nunes, Stones, and Gundogan have to be moved on in the summer. There are also big questions marks over Akanji, Lewis, Ake (fitness), McAtee, Kovacic, Grealish, and Lewis.

It's absolutely certain that we need: a new top GK, three proper RB/LBs, two CBs, three MFs, and a forward. We've sorted the two CBs issue (Reis, Khusanov) and the additional striker (Marmoush).

So in the summer I'm now expecting a new GK (Costa?), two RB/LBs (Cambiaso? Robinson?), and three MFs (Kimmich, Guimaraes, Wirtz?). All of them have to be ready to play for the first team from the word go.

Yet the team that is currently being built is no longer a carbon copy of the one he played in nor even of the one he managed to a treble. The game is becoming increasingly open and stretched and that, in turn, is calling for greater physicality and mobility in the middle.

people will also bitch about 'he not good enough' if the first 50 on that list say, 'no i dont wanna move' and we end up with naff longer term. "Get anyone, well anyone but him"

People saying we have enough for top 4 still confident? You aren’t getting anything with Kova Gundo and Bernardo

Yes, I am.

I have nailed my colours to the mast and I am staying up there.

A big run of hard games coming up. It might get harder, it might break us out of it. But still a fair bit to play after that too.

if that run in was later i might be worried, but plenty of games after that.

I guess the biggest consolation from last night is that Pep and the club can still see we’re getting hammered by anybody that can outrun us.

There’s still time to address that and it might make it more likely we buy even more in the next week or so.

Oh you Mr.Brightside, you.

We need someone who Like Rodri knows where to stand/ move when the other team are in possession, simply tick the ball along and not half heartedly chase after it like a headless fuckin chicken. It’s that simple. Rodri isn’t particularly fast yet you never see him chase after anyone nor is he sliding about (not that the current midfielder do that) because his positioning is so fucking good he breaks up angles for the other team.

We’re constantly getting run through in midfield as no fucker has the intelligence of where to be when we’re defending. Look at Barry for example nowhere near rodri standard but the bloke did 100 metres in 30 seconds yet his positioning and his sense and reading of the game was unbelievable.
100% agree but there's been plenty of times our players have been around the ball and been wishy washy with putting a tackle in. Something Rodri also isn't is wishy washy, he puts his body about and gets stuck in.

It’s clear to anyone watching us that we need energetic fullbacks and midfielders.
The problem is that bad that I think we are making so many January signings because the club need to make a similar number of signings again in the summer.
Need to get energy into the team
We need a rodri back up, a Kev replacement and a bernado replacement
Also throw in kovacic, Nunes and Gundo need to leave
I think January is padding out the squad prior to a summer rebuild
All in all a shitshow of epic proportions

Might not be football related, but a biz jet has landed in Manchester in last hour or so, and there are a few press photographers lurking near it, it's come in from Milan.

I'm currently watching a stream on YouTube

Only if the back 4 can be solidified. Dias has to be there and one of the young lads has to be solid from the start to deputise when needed. A solid back 4 can absorb the midfield frailties to a certain extent and then hope our attacking line put multiple goals past everyone

I

don’t get how people just don’t seem to be able to understand,we obviously can’t get our midfield targets in this window and it would be madness to miss out on those players to bring in panic buys now. Just repeating mistakes we made with Phillips and to a lesser degree Nunes. It isn’t perfect but missing whoever we want long term for short term gain would be a bigger mistake.
If that is indeed true and we can't get who we want, then I agree we must wait till the summer to get a few midfielders in. That said we are going to have to be prepared to miss out on European football for a year because this midfield is old and slow and with this run of fixtures coming up, we could find ourselves in mid table by the end of them.

I think it’s still possible but our short-term cause might be helped by exiting the Champions League next week. We also need to remember that making the top four might only require us to draw games against the top teams, whereas if we wanted to challenge for the title we’d have to beat them.

We don't want to steady the ship we want to refit it and relaunch it . Patching not an option.
