find it crazy how many loan deals are done generally and we never ever do incoming loans, dont even recall who was the player we had on loan last time.

Dario Essuego is a target for the summer, part of our midfield rebuild. You heard it here first ;))) On loan at Las Palmas from Sporting, been very impressive. Chelsea bid for him yesterday

Think if he werent blocked from playing for us since he has already played competetive games for two clubs this season we would have gone for him this january. Maybe Viana also wanted to avoid diving into the grey area of basically negotiating with himself since his involvement in our january wasn't exactly subtle.

Expect us to start dealing with Sporting in the summer

Could be, but personally I'd be surprised to see us go for another defensive mid. Think more likely we'll be looking for a creative attacking midfielder.

Nico is a lot more offensive and advanced himself, all though I assume he will have to do a job as the deepest midfielder this season. Also Rodri pre-injury were increasingly evolving towards being too good creatively to be overloaded with the main defensive duties in midfield. Rodri post-injury is sadly bit of a unknown quantity at this point. Also the fact that Pep has not only adapted but more correctly put helped evolve the box in the midfield trend, that requires two 2-way midfielders behind 2 more attacking ones, as opposed to the midfield triangle he has been married to for most of his time with us. If we add to this that we are already short in that area we absolutely need both attacking and more defensively-minded midfielders in the summer. Essuego has a physical profile we have lacked since Fernandinho, seems to have come on leaps and bounds technically at Las Palmas and has association with Viana and interest from top clubs. Like Nico he seems a no-brainer for a summer target in my opinion
