We'll sign a bunch of players you've never heard of and you'll like it.

Cherki would be either enigmatic or enthralling, though even if he had better players around him I think he’d still shine. I’m sure we’ll probably sign completely different players, but if Wirtz is impossible, then I’d like to see Cherki as Gundogan’s successor and Paz as de Bruyne’s successor. Might be harder to get the latter, but you never know unless you try.

Big fan of Cherki. He’s had huge hype for many years. His skill set is tailored to breaking down a low block. Firing in passes/crosses from range for that final ball. Too many times it feels like we stall out in the final third.

The fact that Lyon seems to want to sell him for 30m….he’s just an absolute no brainer target for us. His profile absolutely fits a need. If we are unable to sign Wirtz, he should be the priority for that role. Even if we do sign Wirtz, if he’s available for 30m, the value is there undoubtedly.

As for Cherki... Work rate and work ethic issue, pace is comparable to current Gundo/Bernardo. Very good tech ability. Has been "available" for a while.

He is a fabulous talent, no doubt about it... but he's blown hot and cold so far in his career and there has been rumours that he has had attitude problems and issues off the pitch with his teammates.

I'm sure City will have a dossier on loads of players and not just on their footballing ability. On their attitude on and off the pitch and how they conduct themselves.
