It’s Quiet 20 - What is the Wirtz that could happen?

How the hell do Madrid fit him in, I don’t think they’ll be interested. He’s a number 10, they prefer creators from deeper, like Modric and Kroos.
I think he could well go with Alonso this summer, Madrid seems to be happy to move a few players on, they have not looked great this season.

Fair enough, I don’t understand how, even if they sold someone like Rodrygo or they benched Brahim, that they’d be able to fit Bellingham and Wirtz in the same side. Bellingham wants to be the focal point in midfield, as we saw for England, he won’t do the running and he’ll spoil the game for any other creative player, al a Phil.

There has been nothing but internet speculation linking Alonso to Madrid. We don’t even know if Perez fancies him.

What Bellingham wants is irrelevant. It’s Real Madrid after all. They bought Mbappe despite having Vinicius at his best position.

True but it would not be a surprise in my humble.
I think it’s nailed on tbh . Ex player who has excelled as a coach is Spanish aswell and then you have a special young talent who is could walk into any team . Like every club out there we cannot compete with Real Madrid .

Found out why no one goes near Cherki, last summer he had agreed a deal to go PSG it was all done ready to sign the contract , then his entourage didn’t show up to talks and instead said Dortmund were offering more money and wages for a winter transfer and then according to Dortmund fans the same situation happened in January. His entourage used the excuse that the Lyon chairman didn’t want to do the deal for the agreed fee.

So in both scenarios it’s his entourage that is causing tension during any sort of negotiation

Seems a player that is really talented and could be the best in his position but his attitude issues are not professional

sort of player, you used to build a team around and watch them flourish. Not sure you can do that much anymore with how the press is used in modern day etc.

A Maverick, a player that you let do what they want as they create magic and opportunities. Not someone who works like the rest of the team but does what they want. As they are so talented. Just don’t think football allows that anymore at the highest level which is a shame

Give that our current attack press with the heart of the Tin Man, Cherki would probably fit right in. Two major differences with Cherki, however, are that he’s genuinely two-footed and he’s capable of keeping possession. If Guardiola wanted to ditch the basketball-football experiment, Cherki would be ideal, but we’re probably too far down that road already and have signed too many incompatible players to go back.

You’ve pretty much described a certain Cole Palmer :-)

Would love to see Cherki at City as he’s a real ‘bum of the seat’ type of player but can also see him kicking up a fuss if he’s not playing on a weekly basis.

He’s the top dog at Lyon & seems comfortable there.

Although bizarrely most of his interviews go on about trying to become the best player in the world & continuously improving which seem to contradict his actions so far.
