It’s Quiet 20 - What is the Wirtz that could happen?

Little ol’ City.
Perhaps that’s exactly why we’re not offering Kev another year—maybe there’s already a quiet level of assurance from Wirtz and his camp behind the scenes?

Still, I can’t lie—it makes me a little uneasy. Going toe-to-toe with Bayern for Germany’s crown jewel is no small task. When they decide they want a Germna player, they usually get them.

I believe it was Sacha Tavolieri who reported it. Like I said, I'm still trying to find other sources or reports circulating about this.
Plettenberg, however, maintains that Bayern are still actively pushing for the deal.

Disclaimer: I’m only going off what I read on Twitter, which could very well be complete bollocks.
All I can do now is hope and dream. I’ll be waiting anxiously for that sweet, sweet 'Here we go.

What if we didn't qualify to the Champions League?

Then that would be quite tragic. I suspect that’s exactly why Wirtz is stalling until May to make his decision—he’s waiting to see how the landscape settles or maybe the are other reasons, probably doing a swot analysis of playing for his home country team or City. But I doubt we get him without UCL qualification.

As for qualification, we’ve only got ourselves to blame if we fall short. Chelsea have a tough run-in, and Villa’s isn’t much easier. We, on the other hand, have the easiest run-in of the lot—so how do we mess that up, knowing every single game counts this late in the season? If we can’t give everything in the final stretch of the Premier League, then we’re truly f***ed. And maybe, just maybe, the Champions League wasn’t meant for us this time around.

this seems to of really split the fan base massively but if we need to sign home grown players who would be the best options to get
This is the problem , we do need homegrown players. Theres no stand out homegrown players of any Value. Few options but again not top drawer
Gittens Nmecha Frimpong (all former academy) Wharton(not good enough imo) Branthwaite (decent but injury prone and huge price tag, Gibbs White(100mill) let me throw out a left field name. Jack Hinshelwood hes basically Rico Lewis but far better. Right age profile versatille. Probably be 50mil again high price tag

We've brought in a fair few young players with promise, they may or may not work out.
We really need a fair few certain starters in the summer, not just kids.
If they have to be homegrown then i'm not sure there's much out there

My wish list mate:

Chevalier @ £50m
Frimpong @ £33m
Kerkez @ £50m
Cherki @ £30m
Reijnders @ £60m
Wirtz @ £125m

Need a lot of non homegrown players to leave for that to happen, not happening in one summer. Think at the very most we only bring in 4 outfield players, and expect one of those to be homegrown replacing Grealish. No idea how many keeperers we'll need though

Frimpong counts though doesnt he under the homegrown list?

Yes, true. I just don't think he's a Pep full back, Cambiaso far more likely in my opinion. I could be wrong thogh ,usually am:)

I just think we need to change now from the multi use player and the stepping into midfield type full back? Frimpong although offering less defensively is just bags of pace and energy that could make us more attacking with a variety of formations?

Priority should be 2-3 fullbacks as we don't have any in the club, that don't reduce the CB situation, or are nowhere near the standard we require.
Then keepers if both are leaving.
2 FB, 1 CM, 1AM all as important in my opinion. The CB situation won’t change until next season. Girona not being able to trade with us and stones contract is done next season even then Bah will replace him then. Hopefully pep gets the nemo.

We won a treble with Ake at left back and a league title with Gvardiol there.

We desperately need a right back, but a new left back is a low priority.

We won a treble with Ake, STONES, and Akanji injury free, Walker at his peak, the defence is totally different now, even Dias has dropped off picking up injuries, I think Pep will play with attacking fullbacks next year less reliant on wingers let's see.
Our fullbacks at the moment, are, O'Rielly as good as he has been will not be a fullback in the future, Lewis or Nunes FFS

Yes, but Ake and Gvardiol are evidently both good left backs.

imho, left back is the absolute priority. Look at the number of goals and chances created down our left hand side. Palace scored 1 and the offside was created on our left. Also, the corner that they scored their second goal from was conceded on the left hand side. Cup Final last season was lost because Garnacho had free rein down that side. I would hazard a guess that more than 60% of goals and chances created against us are from that side…

Milos Kerkez is the man

He will go to Liverpool.
Richard Hughes (formerly Bournemouth) is sporting director and he'll use his influence to get him to join.

As we should have done years ago with van dijk and more recently with Rice, we need to start outbidding and outpaying the red shits until a player sees no option but to sign for us.

For too long we’ve balked at signing the very best in a position we need when they’re available and this season that has come home to roost.
