you best to be getting ready to be depressed, the new guy isnt known for going for world class its not his mo, but what he does do is buy relatively unknown who turn into world class which is effectively what our game plan has always been anyway, i think alot of people are going to be very upset with the names we are linked to because they arent bonafide superstars but then very happy with what they become.

To be honest I’d be happy with that but the names we’ve been linked with, the likes of Gibbs-white Cambiasso etc don’t strike me as players that can push on become world class? I worry we are looking at the phillips, Nunes, kovacic’s of the game and whilst they can be very useful squad players we need players who can become the next KDB, Bernardo etc.

I look at the core of our squad and it's really fucking good still. Rodri makes a huge difference to the balance of the side and will ensure our defence and attack are a lot more comfortable. But there are big question marks around a number of players, that need to step up. It would be lovely to sign someone of the stature of Wirtz because he's shown how good he is consistently at a high level. That takes the pressure off some of the others. If we go with more players for the future then the likes of Foden, Savinho, Doku need to step up and deliver and I'm not sure based on what we've seen this season that they're capable of the consistency we need from them.

I'm positive about this summer though. The club know they fucked up last time around, they won't make that mistake again.

Maybe Neves didn't want to leave, or Benfica didn't want to sell, maybe we couldn't agree terms....

Transfers aren't as simple as many on here make out.
They wanted 120m euros for him as it was around the time of the Enzo and Caicedo deals which put a lot of team off but then Paris agreed terms and Neves he wanted to go there and basically forced Benfica to take 70m euros.

Look at that transfer rate, no wonder he’s our new sporting director. The amount of talent he’s signed.

Decent highlights vid on him, confortable under or overlapping etc but seen very little of him,

*edit link i watched

Reading about our new sporting director, he has a lot of contacts in Brazil wouldn’t be surprised to see us go into that market more.

Would be happy with that. Hugely talented and a lot of teams will be after him. We know Viana has links in Brazil after Reis deal.

Capped a couple of times for Brazil now the sky is the limit. If paired with Cambiaso and surrounded by players like Lewis, Akanji etc. plenty of players to help ease the pressure if he doesn’t hit the ground running. Although I’m sure he would.
