It could've been us

I don't get owners like Tan and the other clown who owns Hull City,i really don't.Surely they must have a modicum of interest in football to buy a club and if they do they must know what supporting one means to the fans?

With no disrespect to Cardiff and Hull, hey we were in the same position ourselves for years,do they think fans turn up every week to watch world class players and them competing for the top trophies and to see them play in Europe every season?Of course not, they go for the banter, the crack,a sense of pride in their local club and identity and out of tradition and loyalty.Start messing with all that makes that identity strong and you are in trouble big time.

I think they should go but protest continually. Not one should wear a red shirt or buy one.Support the club but protest against the lunacy of the owner. If he leaves so what? They existed and survived without him and they will continue to do so when he is gone in some format or other.
So why do clubs in general get bigger gates when they are doing well? More fans will turn up to watch a winning team.
Whether Tan understands the extent to which gates will diminish if they go down is another matter.
I suspect a few exiles might turn up if he sells and they revert to blue, but the number who happily wear red Cardiff shirts never ceases to amaze me.

Therein lies the difference between a fan and a supporter.

"I can now muck about as I want" kind of sums it up. For some that's more important than the match.

There's something irritating about these clowns who feel the need to hang themselves up on the cross and loudly and publicly harrumph about the fact that they are going to support someone else because 'their' team has been taken from 'them"'. Plenty of people stop going to the match for plenty of reasons, and if you make that moment the time when your club is at its highest point for 60 years, that's your choice. Defecting to some lower division club and jumping on the moral high ground over it is attention seeking and pathetic. You don't just choose a club to love: It takes a lifetime.
Absolutely bang on the money.

Another fan, like those lot at FC United, who when their loyalty was tested, decided to jump ship and take the moral high ground instead of sticking by their club.

You are totally missing the point. In fact for a while our attendances actually increased when we slipped down to the old third division and it is not a fact that they increase when they are doing well and if they do it is not often sustained. What happens is that they attract what i call 'floating fans',or fair weather fans. They go along to see what all the fuss is about,or for a day out. They pick and choose games. They are fickle and have no genuine love or loyalty to the club. These are probably a lot of the prats in the new shiny red shirts.

Guess what happens when the bubble bursts and they lose a few,or drop down a division? They slide off to 'support' the next new big thing. What are you left with? The loyal fans who are there for their love of the club, who have supported that club in the family for generations, not because of a few months or years of success,or a new gimmick. So if you are happy to attract a few thousand floating fair weather fans to the detriment of the hard core loyal support, who will turn up on a wet windy night when you are playing Carlisle and not just when you play a top four team, you are now royally fucked.Your foundations have gone and your club, like a house, starts to slide into oblivion.

Also to sustain the so called bigger crowds you attract in the fair weather days you have to sustain the success. You see this with clubs who want to attain the holy grail by being promoted to the premier league. In the first season, swept along by the feel good factor of promotion and playing the big boys they pack places out. After a couple of seasons of being tonked by the same big boys and fighting relegation the new fans think,''Fuck this for a game of soldiers, this isn't fun anymore'' and they do one.Once again you are left with the hard core who have supported the club through thick and thin with maybe a smattering of new fans left alongside them.

Tan is an egotistical meglomaniacal fool and he will soon be gone to move onto his next project and good fucking riddance! He is only funny if he turns up at your local rivals,i am sure Swansea fans are loving every minute,as would we if he took over from the Glazers. For the moment we will have to amuse ourselves with Moyes.
