It was eighteen years ago today.....

Had tickets for the home end but and was trying to leave it as late as possible before going in the ground was just about to make my way round to the turnstile when a fellow blue approached me with a spare ticket his son had woke up that morning and had not been able to face the game and went straight to the city end to join my mate who later became my father in law. Remember sat on the top deck of a double decker bus after the match watching fighting an general Mayhem going on around us an bricks coming through the bottom deck windows. They are still my favourite times following city away. Brilliant days.

... That we were relegated to the "third" division; despite winning 5-2 at Stoke (who were also relegated).

I guess things have turned out alright after all?

Anyone here remember that match?
City made me cry on my birthday, I didn't manage to get to the game for various reasons but I sat in the garden after the match drinking a single malt which had been given to me that day thinking how shit life was.

I remember it like it was yesterday. There were 14 of us in the main stand and when the goat scored after 32 mins up we went! It was mayhem and we were scrapping and being pushed Back and ended up on the pitch. I ran towards our end, side stepped the first copper and got nicked by the second. He just threw me out along with a load of other city fans. After the match our escort had bricks and alsorts thrown at us, you had to watch the sky so you could move out of the way of all the objects. I remember thinking the battle of Agincourt must've been like this but watching the skies for arrows! It was mental, one of those days that just happened back in the day

A few legends scored for us that day:

The Goat got two
One each for Dickov, Horlock and Bradbury (ahem).

I remember listening to it on the radio in the back garden and my dad laughing at me (he is a united fan)

I didnt go to the game cant remember why normally went to stoke, but what i do remember was feeling low watching the results come in, but what sent me over the edge was watching arsenal and tony adams score to win the league, i felt so low watching that knowing how far away we were from it now, cryied like a baby, 36 years old.
fuck me our club put us through it, where were we when we were shit, we all know were we where.

remember it well like most on here.

i remember how amazing the fans in the ground were after the final whistle. Standing there in their 1000's applauding and singing as the players went off. Even watching it on the box in my local i felt proud of the fans. They were bloody amazing. My mates took the piss. I put a brave face on it but inside i was dying.

then Kinky chucked his boots into the crowd. we all knew that would be his last city game. I did think at that moment, "kinkys gone, what the fook is the future?"

Desperate times.

But in a sick way, im glad it happened to us. Most of us can fully appreciate how far we have come in such a short time.
