Italia 90

Just watched the first part, thought it was very good apart from that fat slob Tony Evans being a scouse wanker and spoiling it.
Likewise.
He's only there, to increase his media profile.

Saying that, there's some real knuckle-scrapers on that programme. It's almost like some people haven't evolved

the guy was a wanker. He started off by saying the police deserved their kicking from Millwall fans. and ended by asking why fans are caged up like animals.

Im glad the programme highlighted the damage to English football brought by lfc fans.

I am not sure they highlighted LFC enough to be honest. Yes they did say LFC fans did charge at the Juventus fans forcing them against a wall etc.
I am surprised LFC didnt try and get that taken out.

I think alot of people will have missed the program as it wasnt well advertised. My lad told me.

If anyone wants to read more about Italia 90 there is a fantastic book by Pete Davies called All Played Out though I think it's been renamed One Night In Turin.

He was given unlimited access to the England team before and during the tournament and there's loads of interviews with the players staff ect

He also spends time with the fans and gets caught up in the fighting. He actually gets offered money by a newspaper reporter to throw a brick though a window to start trouble.

He also reveales that the Italian police actually tip off the British press to which bars they are going to Storm before they do so the press and media will already be there.

That happen on the island and in Turin and there have always been rumours that Colin Moynihan and Thatcher agreed to this

Bump. Late to the party with this. Watched the first episode last night. That fat scouser almost ruined a great bit of telly, and he is putting on or accentuating that scouse accent for sure. He sounds ridiculous

Weirdly timed bump. I ordered a t-shirt last week with Ciao on the front and wore it for the first time yesterday.

That World Cup brings back so many emotions for me. My Dad had a bad accident a couple of days after England v Ireland and was fighting for his life for the rest of the tournament in Withington Hospital.

I don't really remember much of Mexico 86 so this was the first World Cup I was properly invested in but had the constant updates from the hospital at the same time. It was really bleak for him for a few weeks.

When he finally woke up, he told me (11 at the time) that he'd bought me every home and away kit in the tournament and they were in the back of his work van. He'd clearly been dreaming on all the drugs they had to pump into his but I had no reason to doubt him until my Mum told me not to get too excited.

I think that along with City, sticker books and Subbuteo, this played a huge part in my obsession with the beautiful game. I wanted to go to the San Siro so desperately. Finally did it early in 2023 to watch AC Milan v Empoli. On the same trip, I went to Sampdoria in Genoa. I've since been back to Milan to watch Inter and did Hellas Verona while I was there so have done 3 of the 12 stadiums. It's a new life ambition to do them all. I know Juventus have moved but if I go to the site of the Della Alpi and watch them in their new ground, I'm claiming it.

Loved Italia 90 , had a fantastic time met lots of great fans mainly from London teams . A Chelsea fan called Den got me my semifinal ticket from the Russian fa , great times :)
