Not so long ago there was serious talk about the North and South stand being extended to have a 3rd tie creating a complete 3 level stadium, this will only add a few thousand but its a start. Are these plans still going ahead?

Your right if they do extend behind both goals the capacity would be over 60k

It'd be great to have a 60k stadium that sold out for almost every game, but there's far more to it than building an extra tier at each end
Because of where the big money is in gate receipts, the club has to look at how to increase hospitality packages before anything else can be considered

There's a never-ending thread (or seven) about the expansion plans (or the new stadium, or whatever).

FFFP (for what it's worth, which isn't very much) has a great get-out clause that effectively says you can spend whatever you like on "infrastructure", which includes spending £5bn on a new stadium with variable height extendable stands and a movable roof that seats 10K for reserve/training matches and 100K for the Champions' League final.

We can dream

Unfortunately the water table around the stadium makes downwards expansion impossible. We could end up with a towering beast of a stadium if we did go bigger.
