In my humble opinion he is on a par with Kompany and his distribution of the ball has greatly improved. A sucessful side is built up by having a great spine. IMO Hart, Kompany Lescott Barry Yaya Aguero is a great spine and I would not want to see that change over the summer.

I do believe that Joleon struggles to keep a cool head in big games. But I also know that there is only one way to get past that and that is to play in big games. Puyol struggled with this up until his late 20's. Joleon can now enter next season knowing he is apart of one the best tandems Europe. He would be a shoe in across any backline in England.

Undoubtedly Lescott has had a great season and like any other centre half he can have the odd ricket but it's when he has them that worries me.

Against Stoke in the cup final last year, deep into the second half, he lets Kenwyn Jones glide past him when he was in a great position to deal with it. Luckily Hart made a superb save and the rest was history.

Then in the final game against QPR he has a brain wave and runs under the ball and ends up judging it all wrong.

In the past two seasons Lescott has been great for the club and has contributed really well but for me I have my doubts about him when it comes to the very big games.

If we want to win the Champions League and dominate domestically then for me we need another world class centre half.

Kompany howler in the Charity Shield gifted Nani the winning goal. Him and Lescott guilty of 1 big mistake each all season.
I agree that we need a better centre half as cover than the reserves we have at the moment, but, Lescott barely put a foot wrong all season but received virtually no plaudits in comparison to Kompany.

Arsenal have not even bothered to offer RVP a new deal.

RVP has also informed Arsenal he will not sign anything and his club are now applying pressure for him to put in a transfer request.

Wenger wants to hold him to his final year and the lack of an offer suggests the decision will be above his head again.

No way to treat a player who has given you eight years...

Fantastic news

Should be able to get him for 15m. 25m is OTT for a player who has just turned 29 and in 6months can speak to another club as a free agent.

No way to treat Wenger either.

His own worst enemy at times.

I do believe he will have learnt from the Nasri debacle, though, and will demand a conclusion ASAP after the Euros.

The encouraging noises continue to be it's not about the money for Van Persie, he wants to win things.
