Someone mentioned Muller earlier today.. just have read him confirming he was not happy with his status at Bayern last season and that he has Inter Milan's offer and that it is something he is considering.

What happened to Muller?

He was an awesome talent a couple of years ago yet seems to have gone off the boil, did he have a serious injury?

Wonder what the offer is from Inter, they must have "agreed" some form of deal if they are allowing Muller to consider terms.

Muller still is amazing but current manager playes anywhere but where he wants to and Gomez is scoring goals like its christmas day every week

So many of the players we are linked with these days play in the Italian league. Obviously our coaching staff is dominated by Italians but are we looking too pre-occupied with Italy?

Yup, Bale, RvP and Martinez all stars of Serie A!
From Serie A recently: Jovetic, Verrati, Ibrahimovic, Cavani, Lavezzi, Thiago Silva, Sneijder etc.
As regards "Bale, RVP or Martinez" We will have to pay a fortune to get them from their clubs, plus big wages! None of the clubs involved are looking to sell and none of these players have said they want to come to us yet.
With FFP coming in we should be looking for maximum value with our signings and looking to unearth gems from around the globe.
There has been criticism of the rags getting Kagawa from Dortmund but IMO this is the sort of "good value" player we should be buying.

Whether or not we can get the players I listed remains to be seen but they appear to be our primary targets so that does not indicate a preoccupation with players from Italy. Mancini has a knowledge of players in Italy and no doubt has contacts there as well as being a figure of interest to the Italian press so it's no surprise that stories of interest "Italian" players emerge but I've no doubt that City's scouting network looks far and wide.

Should be able to get him for 15m. 25m is OTT for a player who has just turned 29 and in 6months can speak to another club as a free agent.

He can only speak to a foreign club in six months.

If he leaves, Arsenal will get well over £20m, closer to £25m.

They only have to factor in his current wages of around £4m a year, what his goals are worth to them in terms of securing a top four spot next season etc.

We are talking about Robin Van fucking Persie here for fucks sake.

One of the greatest strikers in the world, a guaranteed Premier League performer.

Not you, Shooter, but some Blues need to think back to trying to sign Mido just a few years back.

People need to grow the fuck up and appreciate every moment and every player in all this.

Van Persie, should he come to City, will take this team to a world class level.

One, we are not currently at.

It's such a shame that there are only a handful of posters on here who actually understand the game and have to keep pointing out the fucking obvious to the rest of you.

FFS he's a brilliant, premiership proven player who is at his peak right now.

What the fuck more do you people want???!!!!

-- Wed Jun 06, 2012 7:35 pm --

Posters keep going on about Van persie's age,

Look at Drogba last season, Nearly 34

Didn't do to bad for himself did he?

Fa cup winner, Champions league winner

If Van Persie stays fit, he guarantees 25 goals a season imo.

I would also look at song from arsenal, if Martinez is a no go,
links up really well with rvp, would add steel and a bit of creativity in the centre.

^^this^^ nice post new man ;)

There's no doubting RVP's Prem experience but the main thinking behind his purchase is our push in the Champs League.

With him in our squad our options in Europe would be endless.

defense win you CLs , and there is where we are average.

Having the best defence in the prem is not 'average'.

-- Wed Jun 06, 2012 7:41 pm --

i wonder if you know what you are actually saying your self sometimes.....
Chelsea conceded 12 goals in 13 Champs League games (excludes the penalty shoot out) - not bad by anyone's standard in terms of defence.

It was also pretty plain to see Di Mateo played quite deep/defensively to get them where they got to, so I think Mancio makes a decent point, although can understand why some would disagree.

Yes but they played some wank teams like Genk, Leverkuesun, Valencia and Benfica.

I don't want a replacement for Aguero or Tevez. They are the best partnership in the Premiership. There are other areas of the team which need looking at - or look at a player like Bale or Robben which would add something extra. RVP would add nothing, and could disrupt the partnership we have up front

I am goin to spring to the defence of Mancio on this one.

We may not have conceded many goals in the league because most teams didn't bother attacking us. They parked the bus and hoped to nick a goal. Most weren't good enough to do so and that's why we have a good defensive record in the premier league.

In europe however it was a different ball game. we were up against more clinical forwards and we also didn't dominate possession in midfield like we do in the league. Barry, Milner etc not quite so effective in this arena.

So as far as I am concerned get RVP if he wants to come and we offload a striker, but he is not the key. If Tevez and Edin want to stay we have a fearsome front 4 as it is.

To improve in europe we need a centre back who can play football. pique for example. Vince is great but he often hoofs it long and inacurately, while Joleon, well its just not his thing.

In midfield we do need someone a bit more cultured.

So if we signed Pique and Sneijder for example i think we'd be almost there as far as Europe is concerned.

Hart
Richards Kompany Pique Clichy
de Jong
Snejder Yaya Silva
Aguero Tevez

Pique? Are you fuckin mad? He's shite. Would get given a new arsehole on a wet wednesday in jan in this league.

All we need in terms of defenders is a quality back up CB (going to be hell to find)

Mancio's the same guy who doesn't rate Hart so I'd take no notice of him.

If you want to look at areas where we can improve as a team, look at the defensive areas. Other posters are right. In the Premiership, teams don't get the ball and we don't get put under any pressure. In the Champions League we will, especially as we're not top seeded and are bound to have to play good teams in the group stages.
