We're so desperate to get his wages off the books that £5million isn't as bad as it sounds. We'll get the piss taken out of us again and rightly so, the club has made some howlers with wages and still haven't learnt (Adam Johnson's wages upped to nearly £90,000 a week in December). But even after such a good season it looks like the queue for Ade is non-existent because of those wages! Luckily Spurs are doing this compromise with him where they get his wages down to £110,000 a week but compensate with that £4million one-off payment. God, footballers are greedy.

Adebayor should have a City tattoo and call his kids Mark and Leslie the money he's had out of the club. He'll even possibly get a £4M signing on fee from Spuds according to some, cos they're paying next to fuck all for him. I used to stick up for Hughes, fucking idiot (both of us).

It was like fucking Christmas on here when we signed Adebayor. Now everybody is pretending they knew it was a bad signing. Well it wasn't. Nobody was talking about balancing the books then & City signing him was a big deal.

He was way above the standard of signing we were used to at the time, as were most of the players signed through that period (many of them bargains & some who are the backbone of our title winning team) & the manager doesn't decide transfer fees & wages anyhow. So the people who signed off those deals are the likes of Marwood, Cook & unltimately Khaldoon & the owner.

The point I was making was he's had a shed load of cash out of us for very little input. He's done more for his loan clubs than he ever did for us while we've still been topping up his wages. I take your point about Hughes not being responsible, he was a fucking idiot for many other reasons though.

And slightly obnoxiously smug.

Little harsh, he usually calls things right in my experience anyway

I know Andy well & he does have contacts, to be fair some are the same as TH's so... Only difference is how Andy is treated.

Many players do a lot of good with the money the clubs pay them. They are dead right to hold out for every penny.

Adebayor has 2 or 3 orphanages to run in Africa.

High wages are a must for him. To accept lower could possibly be more selfish.

Anyway wages should not be published imo. Does no good.

Marwood is Mr. English, always trying to peddle local boys. Nice sentiment except most English players just aren't good enough anymore!

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/nov/13/manchester-city-sunderland-jordan-henderson" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010 ... -henderson</a>

Thank god someone with a brain vetoed that idea, it's probably potential debacles like that which cause much of the friction between Mancini and Marwood.

If it means Brian Marwood gone I won't be sad, Hughes takes most of the blame for bringing in our current deadwood but Marwood has to take some stick, The Sheik, Khaldroon and anybody high up who is acting in a non-football capacity is blameless as they don't have the responsiblity for judging players and had to back hughes or be accused of lacking ambition.

Marwood has fulfilled his role and perhaps it is best if we bring in a replacement with a better grasp on developing players, one who might be expected to have the responsibility for overseeing a world wide scouting network, and bringing in players who are just about to peak, to compliment our style of play and fit in with the more established players that our manager will be looking to sign.

The man is already at the club. Sack Marwood and promote Paddy. Or we could just go to our feeder club and poach Wenger

Good Shout, I was thinking of PV when I was writing that post but decided against saying anything about him. I was also thinking of an experienced technical director form the continent, had someone from Barcelona in mind although they have had some crap deals have n't they Ibra, Keirrison, Henrique, Caceres and Dmytro Chygrynskiy so who ever sactioned those deals needs a word with. Maybe we could get who ever the Pozzos (Udinese's owners) use to manage their player acquisitions as they would definitely bring in a few bargains.

If we did have PV in that role I would be all for it though as there would be a much better working relationship between PV and RM as opposed to RM and Marwood and I think he would hold more sway in terms of convincing players to sign for us. One thing is for certain is we need to be developing our contacts list and influence in certain areas of the world; I remember an Ajax fan said this played a great part in their successful development of players on another thread.

South America is a must and I think we should also be looking in West Africa and Eastern Europe.

Nice fella, proper blue, loves City and heard bits and bobs about the stadium/campus.
Sadly, though, on transfers he is as KFA as they come. He is Twitter pals with lots of wannabe/fake ITKs and they circulate each other's bullshit through retweets to build a veneer of credibility.
In publishing (and in Private Eye), they call the practice 'log rolling'.

R u taking the piss mate?

As a % of earning it would be like most people paying £500 for a copy of the big issue for example.
