Is it just me that's not panicking about CB situation?

I agree we could do with cover but i wouldn't panic, Micah and Yaya are more than competent to fill in if needed

I think that we could start to see more of Micah at CB this season. I note that Pearce has him in Team GB squad as a CB so it will be interesting to see how he fares.

I still believe that we need another top quality option in that position.

I like the fact that Knobhead is playing Micah there. If he does well, it gives Mancini a nudge. If he's shit, then we know it won't work for us.

Surely you remember what happened when Kompany was out?

Savic was given the opportunity to put his money where his mouth is and failed miserably, then Richards was drafted in and it was fine.

If we keep Kolo, I'm not panicking.

If Yaya is the possible solution, we are talking about using a bloke who has never played a game at centre back in our league & has been responsible for goals against, losing his man on set pieces, on quite a few occasions.

I don't trust Savic or Dedryk at all.

Kolo & Micah are decent short term solutions, if we get injuries.

Why not dedryk? Thought he did well for us just needs a few games to get into it, we have to trust youth as backup, thats going to be the future for us.

I thought he cost us Europe when he played but he was younger tbf. He has all the physical requirements but doesn't seem to be very good.

Looked poor in the 1st pre season game. Hopefully he'll show us something better pre season but we'll see. Both him & Savic looked just the same as ever to me. Rekik looks on another planet compared to them but is just a kid.

Dedryk was awful for Bolton though & I don't trust him, which is disappointing as I thought he would look pretty good there .

My lasting memories of Boyata were the two league cup semis in which I thought he was brilliant and showed his potential. Needs some nuturing but I think he's as good as if not better than Savic.

The problem for Mancini is Khaldoon & the owners have made it quite clear they want to bring through youth and we haven't done this as yet, except in the carling cup. I would like to see us give some of the kids a run out even if its for the last 15mins of a PL game. Personally I think this has a lot to do with our quietness in this window.

A game of bluff going on from Tevez camp and our side.

He wants Milan, but also knows we would like to sell to land Van Persie.

Mancini saying we are sticking with what we got throws ball back in his court.

But it all comes down to us not handing him a pay-off in trying to move him on.

In essence, how badly do they want Tevez, and how long we are prepared to allow Van Persie to consider his other options.

Both Tevez and Mancini have given themselves the fall-back option of nothing coming to fruition.

to be honest mate most of us know this as well as we know tevez and his stooges that work his strings...you mentioned there maybe 4 new signings apart maybe RVP any body else of significance you can point us towards?

I didn't. Tevez' latest line is that he is happy and settled in Manchester, at City.

RvP is such a risky, short sighted signing. I'm surprised, given his contract situation, we're really contemplating a. Selling one of the most prolific strikers in the league (when he's here) and b. Paying more than 12-15mil for a player with no sell on prospects who's one innocuous challange away from crumbling into biscuits.

It's not in line with our policy over the last few years, is strange given our formation/set up and makes 0 financial sense.

Rekik will be drafted in for early FA CUP rounds and League Cup Games maybe.

Savic will be a better player than he was last season.

Richards will act as primary cover for the 2 CB. He will get his 30+ starts a season if injury free. As will Zabaleta who can also play as left back and central in the Mid.

Boyata isnt good enough. Sadly

There is going to be alot of games this season. League Cup, FA Cup, Prem, Champs League.

We are short slightly if we are to challenge on all fronts. On that basis I still think we need someone who can pass the ball in that central defence and can play anywhere across the back... Ramos?
Boyata is far better than Savic and how can you say Savic will be better this season also why would we use Richards as CB cover when he is one of the best attacking fb in the country and in the world.

Savic will go out on loan and Toure will probably be sold which will leave us with -

Kompany
Lescott
Boyata
Rekik

No where near enough cover even If Kolo stays, Persoanlly I think Mancini will go for someone like Martinez a young player with lots of potential and can play multiple positions.

you would have to really gullible to believe any of what tevez has said recently...great PR stunt on our part keeping the moral of the team happy no shit flinging pre season or upsetting the possibility of transfers whilst knowing mancini would be happy to sell if the right offer came.

Is co-ownership legal in England? I can't remember it being done and it's commonplace in Italy.

Espanyol are readying a bid for Manchester City midfielder Vladimir Weiss.

Weiss, 22, has made just five appearances for City since signing professional terms in 2009, and is thought to be growing frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities at the Etihad Stadium.

The Slovakia international enjoyed a fruitful spell on loan at Espanyol last season, scoring two goals in 28 La Liga appearances.

Espanyol coach Mauricio Pochettino is keen to bring Weiss back to the club, but according to Spanish newspaper Sport, the La Liga side are unable to afford the £2.4m fee City want for the midfielder.

However, Espanyol may instead seek to ask City if they can purchase half of the player’s ownership rights, while three unnamed clubs from Spain and Italy continue to monitor the midfielder’s availability.

Im not panicking, we had the best defence in the league last season, we just need a bit of cover for Kompany/Lescott incase there are injuries or suspensions.

Im more worried about cover for Yaya.

-- Mon Jul 16, 2012 2:07 pm --

Its not legal in the UK, but I guess that means if the player is playing in the UK. im not sure what the situation would be if its an outgoing player to a country where 3rd party ownership is ok.

They wont pay our valuation and want Tevez to drop his wages to £100k pw and a 4/5 year contract(it has been reported). So imo Tevez will be happy to see out his remaining contract with us then off to his homeland
