the euro championships have got a lot to do with it imo,the top players are only just coming back, most teams are on or have just got back from worldwide tours, once everyones back then we will see movements,

i think we have a better squad than last year without any signings with the experience gain last season and the squad being together another year, but we need to freshen up with a couple of signings, but to improve further these new players will have to be top class, which im sure everyone will understand takes a little longer to sort out.

cant see the point of stressing and getting arsey with people, just chill and let the club get on with their jobs and im sure we will be welcoming a few quality players that will enhance the squad.

Probably already been said before. Seems like theres abit of a power struggle going off here. Marwood vs Mancini

I wouldn't be surprised if both are using the press in their own little ways.

We don't need a shed load of players to improve just a few tweaks here and there.

I assume things will start moving over the next few weeks though

3 things :

1 - We can - and would - win the league without adding to the first team squad (injuries permitting, of course).

2 - We will add to the first team squad as anyone - and this includes Mansour, Khaldoon, Mancini & Marwood - knows that, whether in sport or business, standing still allows the opposition to catch up. Our first aim is to win the PL, but our second is to perform better in the CL and we recognise that we need a stronger squad to do both.

3 - The status of ITK's, whether on here or in the press, has been blown. The actions of the quartet mentioned in point 2 has led to nothing coming out of CoMS until THEY choose. ITK's on here or in the press - and I include TH in this as he seems to be a part of both - have the same status as the Fonz in the later episodes of Happy Days. They were once able to do it, no question about that, but now - to be honest - they just look a bit ridiculous and aren't managing to convince anyone that they have their previous abilities.

That isn't an attack, just a demonstration that our club is now run as a professional entity which quite simply doesn't lend itself to the amateurish leaks as days gone by.

But it's still fun to speculate ; that's the purpose of this part of the forum ; and - a little like religion - those who choose to believe (whatever and whoever they choose to believe) shouldn't be castigated.......even if they are choosing to follow a TV preacher who say you can get closer to god by sending them money......... and by the same measure - as we are all adults - neither should those 'non-believers'.

'He turned me into a newt.............. I got better'.

I'm not sure I agree with your third point because transfers aren't just leaked by the buying club. They are leaked by agents, players, friends of players, selling clubs, pretty much anyone with a vested interest. As I say, the quietness seems more a by product of us not actually being in for a bunch of players rather than some sort of new found 'professionalism' at City. I would hazard a guess both Brian Marwood and the gaffer have enough links at national newspapers now that they are capable of and prone to leaking things when it suits them.

I think its also down to the fact that we are now a quality team & are only in search of quality players so the pickings are always going to be a little thin , hence the quietness in the transfer market with us .
We dont need to go out & buy several players we are the CHAMPIONS of England .

You tell him Mullsy...!

How do we improve on greatness? It's not easy. The rags are still three quality signings away from us.

-- Fri Aug 03, 2012 11:49 am --

There will be no "power struggle" going on.

I wish people would stop viewing City as being like Corrie or Eastenders where there's always an ulterior motive round every corner!

Do you think Mancini would have signed a 5-year deal if he was going to be fucked around? You must have a really low opinion of our manager if you believe that.

I don't think there's many if any coaches who have good relationships with the technical director at their club. Historically power struggles always ensue. The owners are doing the right thing in my opinion in keeping Marwood in situ because it's important to have continuity in your transfer dealings and also for there to be some sort of checks and balances system that the manager should go through before spending millions and millions on players. I see that few people on here rate Marwood very highly, but you have to trust the owners. He's been there quite a while now and even with all the upheaval surrounding Garry Cook leaving and the scouting network Hughes set up, he seems safe in his job.

I would like to see a few signings but the point made here is correct. We aren't standing still, even if we signed nobody (which won't be the case ).

Last season, we didn't have Tevez. Also, Rekik, Suarez etc are a year older & will be able to fill gaps should we need them.

In effect though, we have signed one of the Premier League's greatest ever players by getting Tevez back on board. This is just as big a deal as adding RVP. Tevez was way ahead of him as a player the previous season & was head & shoulders our most dangerous player.

Now he looks fitter than we've ever seen him at this stage.

We are much stronger with a fully fit Tevez. He would walk into any of our rival's teams & that is a fact.
