I will agree to disagree then. Name me an English player who would be on less than 50k who would cost less than 5million and is under 28 better for us?

James Tomkins?

Quality player, no chance you'd get him for less than 5mill tho. Dann got more experience on the field too.

Imo now that Wio's legs have gone, there are no decent English centre halves apart from Lescott. Micah would be better than any of the people mentioned if give a run there.

Most of the people we get linked with from abroad are iffy as well.

Micah can get a run mate, I agree, my point is if we sign someone then do so on the cheap and save the sheckles for a star. Savic and Bridge are the epitome of wastes of money, shit the pair of them. Boyata could do a job but not sure how Mancini rates him to be fair. Boyata isn't a kid either so it's unclear what role to play he has.

I still maintain Martinez is an absolute must. He would cover us at back and midfield, god knows why Herrera gets a look over him.

I think Micah & Kolo are our safest bets short term. Savic was a bad piece of judgement. Boyata has looked really poor whenever I've seen him for Bolton. I had high hopes for him a couple of years ago.

If Martinez is up to the job, I still think it will take him quite some time to get up to Premier level so we may still need someone like Micah fill in if either Vinny or JL get injured. Why we want Herrera I don't know.

Kolo wants out though hence the debate, PSG or Anzhi in a retirement contract move. If we keep him then great because he's quick and still got it at the top level but unfortunately he wants out. We do need cover, definately imo. Herrera I can't get my cap on with, he looks a good player but is he really that good we overlook Martinez? I always liked Toulalan but Malaga have him, maybe Lassana Diarra or Khedira because it looks like they will part with one of those 2? Either eould make good replacements for De Jong.

Boyata has been played as a RB mostly though think he's only played one game as a CB for them and had a good game. I think we've given up on Boyata to early he still has a lot of promise we made a mistake in loaning him to a team that don't play him in his natural position.

Dont know how some people would like us to go into next season with just savic, boyata and rekik as our only back ups to centre back and even if toure stayed I don't think that would be good enough to challenge on all fronts which is what we should be doing.

Kompany
Lescoot
Martinez
Rekik
Boyata

Thats my hope for next season, also richards could play cb if needed.

-- Tue May 08, 2012 8:04 pm --

The best game he ever had for us was at rb against chelsea other than that hes been average, still young though

People writing off Savic. Give the kid a chance.

Next season i think Kolo will leave as he is getting on, if he stays then fantastic. If he leaves i see as has been mentioned an Albiol etc coming in with Boyata also as backup.
Savic out on loan. Done.

Back to other transfers,

I would love it if we brought in Martinez as he provides fantastic cover and will add to our midfield. This signing hinges on someone leaving eg NDJ though?.

Hazard seems a done deal to some and that is good enough for me :D

----------Aguero------
Hazard----Nasri/Tev--Silva
-------Yaya----Barry/Miln
Clichy---Lesc---Komp--Richards
------------Hart-------------

Bench; Pantilimon, Kolarov, Dzeko, Balotelli, Zaba, Albiol and NDJ.

That would be my 18 man squad.

I would be concerned if we only had Kompany and Lescott as centre backs next season.

I can understand why we shouldn't disrupt a winning formula, but their will be stronger sides next season and even though our defence has been tight, it doesn't look exceptionally strong all the time. The most worrying trend is when the ball is continuously booted out to opposition midfield players and it just keeps coming back. Personally I think Kompany and Lescott could sometimes pick their passes from defence more accurately.

Hummels, (or a similar style of player) would suit me, but I realise this would break up the current pairing. Maybe Martinez would be the answer, cover for midfield and for centre back. I think we (and Mancini) shouldn't forget that Yaya can also play ably in centre of defence if needed too.

Savic, Rekik and Boyata are too inexperienced for now to play in Europe for us. This is the price we have to pay for moving forward so quickly in that good young players who need time will not have as long as needed at our club.

-- Tue May 08, 2012 7:44 pm --

Do we all still believe that Kolo, Tevez and Kolarov will all leave this summer ?

I think tevez will stay, kolarov has been linked to a return to italy and kolo will be of to somewhere like psg.
