From the Mirror, nothing too earth shattering.

Clear-out! Mancini will bin EIGHT of City's (probable) title winners

Manchester City’s fans will be in Blue Heaven come Sunday night if their heroes lift their first top-flight crown in 44 years.

But manager Roberto Mancini already has his eye on something far greater...

DOMINATION.

Manchester United's so-called Noisy Neighbours are determined to build on their expected title triumph by completing their transfer business early in the close season.

And that means bringing in the world-class names who will ensure domestic and European success becomes a regular occurrence at Eastlands.

City want to go on a £100million summer spending spree but know they have to start balancing the books so they comply with UEFA’s new Financial Fair Play rules, which come into force in the 2013-14 season.

Mancini is therefore intending to stage a clear-out to partly fund his summer shopping.

As many as eight first-team squad members could be jettisoned as Mancini tries to make his squad even more formidable, so they not only stay ahead of United and the rest of the Premier League but also challenge Barcelona and Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Emmanuel Adebayor, Wayne Bridge and Roque Santa Cruz, all of whom are currently out on loan, will also be offloaded.

It's all designed to pave the way for the sort of signings Mancini sees as key to turning one title into multiple trophies.

His top summer transfer targets include Arsenal’s Robin van Persie, Tottenham’s Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard of Lille, who collectively would cost £100m.

Others on the radar include Napoli duo Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi, who were influential in knocking Mancini’s men out of the Champions League this season.

City are open-minded about the prospect of Carlos Tevez staying at the club, but are willing to sell if anyone meets their £25m valuation.

After returning from his unauthorised three-month break and making up with Mancini, Tevez has indicated he wants to stay at City.

But senior figures at the club are mindful of the prospect of another saga involving the Argentinian and are prepared to cut their losses on him.

De Jong is scheduled to be out of contract next summer, and has failed to agree a new deal. City want £10m for the Dutch midfield enforcer.

Dzeko, a £27m buy from Wolfsburg in January 2011, is also up for sale, having failed to live up to his exorbitant fee and explosive start to the current season.

Kolo Toure, Savic and Johnson have all been surplus to requirements on the run-in and will be told they can leave.

Toure has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, while former Middlesbrough winger Johnson could return to his native north-east with Sunderland.

Defender Savic has failed to convince on the occasions he has been called to fill the void left by Vincent Kompany and Joleon Lescott, and will be allowed to leave after just one season in Manchester.

With Toure and Savic set to move on, Mancini is looking to bring a central defender as cover for first-choice pairing Kompany and Lescott.

Really don't want Nige to leave. £10m is insulting considering the number of clubs needing a midfield enforcer.

agree with both your points; now he is fit he has a key role to play, and he is a top man; made a big difference when he came on at Newcastle

Of those mentioned, I hope De Jong, Dzeko and Johnson will stay, and if Mancini has no problem, Tevez..I wish they were given another chance to prove their worth..maybe I'm being sentimental but they also played a part in taking City to the cusp of greatness..

And I really don't see the point of selling Tevez and getting RVP..imo performance-wise, Tevez of last season is better than RVP of this season..

Get rid of Tevez in the summer when his stock is high.

All it takes is 4-5 bad games in a row next season and everyone will be bringing up his misdemeanours. Better for the fans and the club (and probably him) if we just get rid and save ourselves from further antics.

Just my 2c

Has Tevez ever had 4 or 5 poor games? The man's a machine. It'd be madness to get rid of him if there is hope of him settling down off the pitch.

IMO there are very few that need replacing.

We can be fantastic at times but we are yet to consistently show our best. Look at the recent missed chances - so many time that Mancini is nearly driven to distraction. We are still developing. I expect to see more from the squad if we hold it together. One or two changes ate ok but I thinkajor surgery could kill the patient. Hazard and a CB for Savic (on loan) and Hargreaves. Done.

We need to keep Tevez because him and Sergio work really well together plus thet look like they are generating good chemistry which could serve us great in the long term, not forgetting I think they could terrorize Europe next season.

The most important thing is chemistry IMO, you could buy 2 very average strikers but if they can play together and generate a good understanding they can score lots of goals and become very good strikers. Going out buying the next big thing or the heat of the moment never really works IMO.

Look at Newcastle, at the start of the season many were writing them off to get relegated because they had sold their best players and brought in unknowns, look at them now!!
They win because the team chemistry is brilliant and have a manager who gets them playing as a team rather than a group of individuals!

I can't see Tevez being forgiven to the extent that he will stay with us next year. All the talk was that he has returned with his tail between his legs, and he and his agent know City hold the cards regarding his future.

If Tevez is to leave then van Persie looks like first choice, but Cavani has also been mentioned, and I would think Falcao would be the best fit for the aggressive type of player Mancini wants at the club.

If we are to sign a winger like Bale to provide crosses then we should keep Dzeko, and maybe offload Balotelli (only if it is needed to balance the books).

Hazard looks like coming in to rotate with Nasri and Silva, we will need all three if we were to try to win the Champions League as well as the Premiership and a domestic cup.

For the defensive role (in both midfield and centre-back) then Martinez is the outstanding candidate. He could fill in for either Yaya Toure or Kompany. A player like Yaya can fit in anywhere in the middle of defence to supporting a striker, which woud mean we could sell quite a few of our existing back-up squad if required.

I think signing RvP would be a mistake and doubt he would be a target unless we lose a striker i.e. Tevez. He's 29 in the summer, will cost a lot even with a year on his contract and will want astronomical wages. Apart from this season he's only had one season in the last 6 years where he's not been hammered by injuries.

He's a class striker but I don't think he fits the profile of us typically signing 23-25 year olds unless we MUST get someone for a particular role i.e. Yaya. Most of our signings we'd expect at least to get a fair portion of our money back if sold, certainly not the case with RvP as his next contract will be pretty much his last.

I'd rather see Cavani or Falcao (Rossi if he wasn't injured) at 25/26 or someone similar than RvP personally. Higuain or Benzema may be an option also if RM would sell.
