Mahrez has been brilliant but he is 31, in the last year of his contract, and we have Palmer waiting in the wings. Personally, I would not be averse to letting him go.
No one would be better to mentor Palmer.

This year has also been his best with City so there is no reason why he can't keep up this standard for another few years.

He is hardly injured and seems to be very well liked by the playing group.

I'd extend him for another 2 years.

I wouldn't be averse to that either but I always have a preference for young players coming through where possible, especially ones as gifted as Cole.

I'd even be happy with him running his contract out, he's always seemed totally professional so I can't see him dropping his standards in his last year. We see him mentor Cole for another year and then free up his wages.
 
I'd expect Mahrez and De Bruyne to remain at the club as long as the other is here. You can see on the pitch that they love playing with each other.
