I'm all for praising the club for great deals (a la little Alf) but I'm not afraid to call a spade a spade and hand out criticism. We should be all over this. Better than Phillips in every way. Can play CM, DM, CAM, he’s massive so could even play CB if we were really desperate. Plus, he’d get in his national team if he played 15 games so he won’t be too arsed about rotation.SMS is an elite, world class 8 no questions asked...I can't imagine him going for 50 mil...more like 75 mil...

60m for Kalvin Phillips is not "a steal". we're just being pre-emptively tribalistic and defensive because we know fans of other clubs will mock us for having overpaid. this is not necessary. we can just admit it's an unreasonable price.

First part could well be true but there’s no way if Bernardo was to leave that his replacement would come from within the premier league as there is honestly nobody close to being good enough in the league to replace him. We’d struggle to find anybody in any league capable of replacing Bernardo imo and the only player that stands out to me as potentially filling that gap would be Bellingham who I don’t see moving this summer. Very hard to find somebody with Bernardo’s talent, work rate, energy, ability to keep the ball when pressed and hurt teams in terms of goals & assists. He was very much the glue last season.
I really think with Haaland, Alvarez and likely Phillips & Cucurella, particularly with a player like Mane leaving Liverpool, we’d move further ahead of the scousers. Bernardo leaving would be a big step back for us.
I will be depressed if Bernardo left, but apart from FDJ there is no one that can replace him.
So the best option is to use Grealish or Foden to fill his position and his role by receiving the ball under pressure and driving the team forward.

FDJ couldn’t replace Bernardo as Bernardo is much better going forward. I just don’t think we should let him go until we have a player lined up who is capable. Next summer Bellingham could be that player.
