It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

There were reports that after England games Sterling would talk to the club to sort out his future now it’s after his holiday, this tells me Sterling be going on a free next season or at least he can talk to European clubs in January to see what or if they is offers..
If that’s his attitude then I’d bench him until his contract expires… He’ll love that with a world cup looming.

Agree with that.......however id love to see Raheem hit the heights he did at the end of the 19-20 season. He scored some cracking goals and seemed to play with a freedom & confidence that is rarely seen from him imho.
I think the best raheem was the front 3 of sterling kun sane. It was frightening

We won’t, and would be daft to. If he stays he plays as long as he works.
Either way we are paying him regardless and I’d rather have someone playing who wants to be here. I’ve zero issue with the club benching him for a season if needs be to send a message to clubs around the world and players that we won’t be mugged off. The likes of Real, Barça etc won’t want players benched they are interested in, we have had an offer on the table for Sterling for a season now (allegedly) so it’s pretty clear he’s no intention of signing it and it running the clock down. I’m all for players leaving if they want, but on our terms and at the right price! It’s not as if we’ve left it last minute.

I, and I think Pep want the best team out on the pitch. If Sterling is in the squad and Pep wants him on the pitch he plays. Simple as that for me. I’m not interested in sending messages.
Plus if he plays and has a great season now we have a centre forward he might re sign so that would be another plus from playing him.

What attitude?

Why would we bench someone who is:
1) honouring their contract
2) doesn’t seem to have done much wrong? (Not as if he’s broke the law or anything)
3) if the manager wants to play him, he will.

If anything it would be sending the wrong message about our club. If Sterling wants to leave on a free, he will, because the contract he and the club AGREED will allow him to.

Lol

And lose £60m fee and have to pay him £300,000 a week for another year? Maybe pep has lost some faith with him and is happy for him to go and maybe be replaced with someone?
I mean if he can contribute to our success why not? What's selling going to do? We'll lose the only bit of pace we have in the team (on the wings at least) and even lesser options if he goes. We're not losing any money on him. And I highly doubt Chelsea will put up £60m for him.

Also there is little chance we replace him.

Chelsea probably the most at risk for a top 4 finish next season. If they think Sterling would be the difference, £60M is reasonable. If they don’t, they won’t be in for him.
