It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

Half of the refreshment is letting players go. It is time for Sterling to leave but not just him
Yes we do need to let a few go...who is arguable but there are some who do need to go....

For me it would be Mahrez as I think we could still get something for him even at his age and potentially Sterling (esp if he wants to go) - thought i do think he still has a place in this team and can still improve and something to add....

For me Grealish is the elephant in the room...the club wont countenance selling him after one season but he just desnt fit in at present (though this could change next season - but if he is still not showing it at the end of next seasona big question needs to be asked on him..he will be 27/28 by that point -

Id hope that Jesus stays...he is adaptable enough and adds so much to our game.

There is the question of how much KDB has got left as well.....another season or two at peak potentially?

Think Gundo will leave as well in the next 12-18 months as he is gettting on...but that wil just be part of the natural need to refresh whereas the striker, fullback positions are essential now

Our recruitment needs to be better.

The other team have been brilliant unfortunately. jota and diaz hit the ground running.

we spunk £100m on a position we didn't need and need to wait a year to see if he's any good.

My fear is we go all in on Haaland and neglect other areas of the team again.

We need a top player to replace Fern. We need to replace Sane/Torres and a left back.
ID stick with cancello at left back as i actually think he plays better there than his "natural postion" ...for me its cover and eventual replacement for walker that we need

Here’s a stat for you, this will be the first season in peps career that a pep side have not been the best attack in the division he is managing in. As it stands

Have to say, and I’m probably in the minority on this, but I am not a fan of leaving another hole in the squad because we’re potentially waiting a season for Bellingham. Can we for once have a season where all the needs in the squad are met and we don’t have to meet here again to discuss more failures in recruitment? It may sound like short-term panic but I see many other options that give us as much as he would. Anyway, my two cents

Thing is (and I agree with you) dont Dortmund have a pattern of only selling one of their big players every transfer window....last season Sancho, this season Haaland - I cannt see them letting both go in one window...guess it also depends on where Bellingham is in his contract but id guess not that close that he could force the issue

Sterling
Gundogan
Fernandinho
Laporte
Mahrez (assuming he doesn't sign a new deal)
Jesus

All of them need to go this summer, We desperately need multiple midfielders, the Striker seems to have already been taken care of, Palmer will emerge and Alvarez can take a spot at the wing, Wouldn't mind another Center back though, and maybe a left back.

From an outsider perspective you need a top class LB, CM and Striker. I think you also need to add pace to the team with someone who is very direct.
Been saying this for a long time that we also need a proper winger in this team, specially to that left side, not use midfielders there.
