It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

This Ake situation has come about rather recently...its not anywhere near the lines of where Sterling or Gabby were even weeks ago, especially Gabby...I'm 1000% certain that if this were to reach the point of Ake actually leaving we would adequately address his departure with a more than viable 4th CB...I read yesterday of guys like Le Normand in Spain or Caleta-Car at Marseille who would be fine replacements for Ake if he were to go...there are loads of "professional" CBs throughout Europe who could fill the 4th CB role if needed...with all due respect to Ake who I like and who I'd rather see stay, are people now actually losing their shit over how to hypothetically replace our 4th choice CB?...We just signed Erling fucking Haaland, nice and early too...replaced Dinho with an England international...have the reigning SA POY coming in...signed a keeper who was rated behind only Neuer last season in the Bundesliga as our back up keeper...are on the verge of signing a young, dynamic LB (a true, natural LB, imagine that)...and some are creating a buzzkill over whether Ake stays or goes!!!!
If Ake or anyone else wants to jump off this train, then I say "good luck and thanks for your service to the club...now move along please as we have business to attend to"...the business of winning trophies...

It isn't against a solid bank of 10. I suspect this is where the strength and power of Haaland will be most useful as he will be able to hold it up, release it to the creators, and then go again to get on the end of the attack. In addition, Palmer and Alvarez add to the finishing ability. Granted, not yet in the PL, but both have a natural finishing prowess at the level they have played at.
Exactly this. Palmer is a superb finisher with either foot. He's brilliant at taking those half chances on the edge of the box. Cool and composed.

It's getting bored man. Waiting for a "stand by your beds" message from Tolmie

For me:
Haaland adds goals Jesus doesn’t get
Phillips adds legs Fernandinho no longer had
Cucurella adds left back attacking zinchenko can’t do (much as I like him)
Alvarez is an unknown bit replaces sterling who isn’t a staring 11 player
Ake leavimg is an issue - but only with numbers as he never really convinced as a starter

Ake only leaves at the right price, which would be more than what we paid as he was improving loads last season

I can be as negative as anyone, and strongly believe that if something can go wrong it will, but you've summed it up perfectly.

Seems that some people are only happy when they have something to worry or complain about.

Really need to keep a sense of perspective.

SPOT ON
we have strengthened in the parts we have needed for a couple of years now if truth be told,
the lack of strikers have been a main issue in BIG games and Champions League, yes pep has worked wonders on the false 9 and the rotation in that format, but having strikers is something else and the option to keep others guessing

the BIG thing for city and pep in the new season is having KDB to feed the strikers and not the other way round
yes, Kevin is a world-class player and can play in all sorts of roles, BUT just having him back to feed will scare the rest to the bones
