It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

Yet we still won a game we could only draw last season at the weekend.
I'm not saying the season is over or that we cant win games or the league. We could probably sell 3-4 players more and still have a 50% chance of winning the league. That doesnt mean I think it would be particularly smart or the right thing to do.

We have to trust the process. There are 23 more days for deals to be done.

JWE will be working his arse off trying to prove to Pep that he’s ready too.

I think every Blue on here wants the best for City it’s just that there are varying degrees of frustration. I think we are all tired of Barca following us around too.

For me I see an absolutely cracking team with terrifying potential and I want them to have the best chance of success and not being derailed by a handful of injuries in a World Cup year. I don’t want to lose to a worse team just because they have better squad cover. These players and Pep deserve better than make do and mend and square pegs in round holes.

Txiki has done a great job while at the same time made some decisions I don’t understand. He can really show how good he is in the next 3 weeks. This window is not over.

its mental if he`s right to be honest!! we need a solid good class left back? someone who when needed can step in at a good level, rotation position but around the £20-30m level so we can rest Cancelo when required.
What if that rotational player is no good and we need to sign another lb in 12 months and cant get rid of your rotational player because he’ll never get as big a club again

You sign players that can start or with 6 montgs pep magic are starters. Stop calling for squad fodder. Its a slope to mediocrity

I agree with that and Txiki has a near enough impossible task in finding clubs willing to sell their players as a replacement for Bernardo Silva if we did sell.

Let’s hope that’s one job he won’t have and can concentrate elsewhere.

Keep the faith - the people who bring players in did get Haaland and he was here for the 1st game.

It’s a business and as much as teams want players before the season starts it depends on all sorts of factors.

I would rather the club get the right player as opposed to doing things the 80s way of buying the next Steve Daley.

Cant remember us being in such a bad situation transfer wise for years. I'm happy with the signings we have made, and I think Txiki has done a tremendous job for us over the years, but to have so much unfinished business at this point is just not good enough. The season has already started and we have 5 fit senior defenders, having sold a good squad defender 3 weeks ago without having his replacement lined up in time for when the season starts. I assume Txiki had done his job and had a list of LB alternatives long before the transfer window opened, especially when we decided to sell our only backup fullback. Why we decided to wait with bidding on Cucurella until there was no time to get a replacement in before the season started if we couldnt get a deal done, I have no idea. The same day our final bid for Cucurella was rejected we should be negotiating a deal with another club/player to make sure we are not extremely vulnerable when the season starts. No matter how you look at it, the whole LB situation has been poorly handled. The season has started, and no one is signed.

On top of this it looks very likely we are willing to let a key player leave for half his value without any real possibility to replace him without it being a huge downgrade, again when the season has already started. All because another club prioritized signing just about every other player in Europe before they turned to us, we are apparently the one club that had no issue with waiting until the very last weeks of the window to get a deal done, even if it puts us in a terrible position. Since Barcelona have already spent about 200m on other players we must apparently also have to settle with a ridiculously low fee since they now cant afford to pay us more.

What on earth are we doing? This is not how we usually handle business, or is a way any serious club should handle its business. Did Txiki have a stroke, or why is he allowing us to be in such a bad situation all of the sudden when he has never allowed it before? And if its not true, why are we allowing another club to talk about us and our players on a daily basis all summer without doing something about it?

Something is very strange about how we are handling our business this summer. Some clarity from the club would be welcomed.
In fairness a lot of the above is just you guessing what did happen and what is happening right now? compared to most i think City are well run, I have no sure reason at present to think otherwise. Selling Zinchenko may have been a little rash but we don't know the details or how the deal panned out, what fell through and what other options we are looking at. So i don't think we need to go glass half empty straight away. There are still over three weeks of the transfer window to go after all.
