It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

I think it’s mad the stick Sterling gets. Yes it’s probably time to move on and let him go but people seem to have short memories with him. His form has dropped off a cliff (again) but just look at what he’s done overall for us.

When he does go, I hope it’s not a ‘thank fuck’ - he should get a lot of respect from every City fan IMO.

I think sterling has been a great buy! The 100 points season he was unstoppable at times.
He’s been a great professional on and off the pitch. If he said he was leaving at the end of year I’d give him a standing ovation and In years to come his stats would speak for themselves.

I do think football changes and moves on, sterling came through when wingers used to be all about being fast and tricky. He did a great job at learning how to be more of a goalscorer but its never felt natural has it?
These days football has more and more inside forwards who are clinical forwards that just play a wider position.

Thats what city need now, a player that you trust to score you a goal like salah and mane do.

He’s not coming early, he’s coming six months late. Should have come in January when we lost Torres, whom he is replacing. Liverpool brought Diaz and he’s already being influential
Activation of a release clause suggests he's coming earlier than intended.

The purpose of my post was however, to introduce a bit of levety.

Do we really need a bigger squad or like Jack says do we just need to play the kids more so they become real options for us in a crunch? It’s very difficult for me to believe given the quality of our academy we don’t have 3-4 players each season who are good enough to play in the cups, home against relegation fodder, etc. Time and time again when kids get in to full strength sides they’re more than good enough to hold their own. It’s also good business, sell on values increase tremendously with first team experience.
He was starting to do it with Palmer, unfortunately he got his injury and since then theres been no excuse from him. The Leipzig away game still springs to mind.

If we win the league this season, I think we should have a mini re-build to freshen it up. Move a few on and bring in some new hungry players.
I thought we should have done it at the end of last season after winning the league but that didn't happen.

That’s what pep wanted as well I believe? A refresh and a new dynamic to the team

I love Gabby, but he's not better than Mahrez or Sterling on the right, he's not better than Foden or Grealish on the left, he doesn't want to play up front anymore. Alvarez is the same profile of player.

If Sterling leaves, he leaves, but he would need replacing like for like. We need a winger with pace.
Borges, pace and output!
