It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

City willing to consider a new deal for Zin and would prefer him to stay, but now completely up to the lad - has a year left.

Arsenal are offering to double Gabby wages!!!

Rodri signing a new deal early July.

I'm currently away, so enjoy the rest of the Jubilee weekend.
When can we expect Foden to renew?

Which ones is he considering? My son went to Wadham and his fiancé attended and now lectures at Pembroke.

Congrats!

We went to Magdalen and Keble. Couple years off yet but he now knows what it will take!!

Wherever he is going to be happy.

Defo not fudking Liverpool ;)

TBF they are all top notch. Nice to see he is avoiding the Eton infested colleges. Most Oxford degrees 4 years though. My lad did 6 which delayed my retirement a bit. Better start saving up mate. It’s an expensive business.

Yep, we actually sold our house four years ago and downsized, so we could bank some cash towards my son and daughter's education.

All our 'middle class' friends thought we were crazy, managing to get by in a three bedroom house with only one bathroom and maybe one holiday a year.

Difference being, while their kids were coasting, my two have got to see what real life is like for most 'ordinary' people, and also have a bit of their dad's Moss Side fight in them.

I went to bloody Claremont Road, if my two go to Uni with a bit of cash in their accounts, me and the wife will have done something right.

Got a friend who's niece went from a north Manc comprehensive to Cambridge (and a 1st). He said he was really impressed from the tour and throughout her time that there was none of the toff bullshit. You were there because you were clever not because your dad had a title. And it was cheaper than Warwickshire who wanted to screw every last penny out of the customers, sorry, students.

Lad's just doing his GCSEs, so will have this issue next year, although he won't be bothered whether it's Cambridge or Carlisle - he's more laid back than Ederson. Presume it's a goalie thing!

It’s a tough arena getting into Oxford and Cambridge at the moment, we went round Oxford earlier this year for my daughter, she’s a straight A* student, she did well in her tests, didn’t even get a fucking interview! Covid has caused a backlog of students who’ve deferred, added to the Unis wanting lots of international students to boost their coffers etc, we just couldn’t believe it. All of the other top Unis, like St Andrews and Durham for example, are exactly the same.

This kind of self sacrifice is admirable in the age of generous tax credits etc. I thought my old man was a one off when he raised me single handedly while working days and nights as a brewery rep for bass...when all you got for your kid was £11 per week.

Anyway you'll save a bomb on council tax and enrgy bills!!! By the time you are retiring you'll be thanking god you made the choice you made while you were still fit and healthy too!
