It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

You are 100% correct about them going into meltdown at every signing. A couple of reports about Cucurella and we are now the Bayern of the premier league apparently.

I'll never understand why people cry about FFP when the most successful English team of the last decade signs players. I understand being bitter but surely at some point common sense prevails?

Agree with this. It’s been nagging at me all season. I know Stones was injured at the start of the season but Laporte didn’t exactly nail down a spot for when Stones returned yet still kept his place without fail.

After the season and Euros that Stones had, I think that’s poor decision making. I’d like to think that we’d stand up to a player wanting to leave - or just let him leave - if he threatens to rather than just playing him regardless to keep him happy.
You can't honestly believe that Pep Guardiola plays anyone just because he's threatened to leave? And then continues to play him for the same reason?

Have you missed Stones injury record this season?

I'll be surprised if Zinchenko goes to West Ham or anyone else. If Pep doesn't mind him staying as back up him leaving would be a step down as he's settled here and winning trophies.
Yeah if another left back comes in zinchenko's game time is going to drop to zero, he won't get near our midfield. He might just chain himself to the training ground and grab a few more medals but Brighton or west ham would both be great moves for him and he should take either one.

I think we can rule out two midfielders coming in if Gundogan now i staying.
I think gundo need to leave we need all the depth we can get as we saw this season with ferna, we need young players gundo has 2 years at least in him if not for his back ignoring the problem won’t solve it, his back won’t miraculously heal. He need to move to a less demanding league.

Haha, shows a certain level of intelligence. Fair.
I'm just responding to your comment and if you think what you said is intelligent then we all know what your level is!

I'm done talking about this, so don't bother replying.

So in the last week of the season, with the final day title decier coming up, we have had 'confirmation' dinho is leaving, gundogan is leaving, jesus probably leaving, sterling ready to leave, zinchenko being pushed out by getting in a replacement, laporte or ake looking over their shoulder at a replacement being linked with. Oh and the star player we have agreed to sign already has his next move sorted with a release clause to enable it.

Incidentally, have Liverpool been linked this week with anyone leaving or coming in to replace current members of the mentality mobsters?

It is certainly not quiet this week!

Anyone would think the media were trying to unsettle us !

Yeah if another left back comes in zinchenko's game time is going to drop to zero, he won't get near our midfield. He might just chain himself to the training ground and grab a few more medals but Brighton or west ham would both be great moves for him and he should take either one.
Sorry but i disagree. He doesn't have to go anywhere as he's under contract till 2024, iirc. His game time may reduce but with all the games we play i think he'll still get enough games to qualify for another PL winners medal, should we be in a position to be future champions again of course. Plus he'll feature in future cup games no doubt.

I wouldn't mind him as a back up solely for when Rodri is injured, knackered or out of form but would he really want that to be his role at 26?
Facing Relegation, wanna move to the champions instead lad? he might.

Decent business if so. I believe Phillips had a 25mil release cause if relegated? (May be wrong on this?) And then 35 mill for cucurella. Shores up two positions needed. Haaland for the £60mil plus alvarez joining. Key spots were lb, cm and st. I think that leaves us with one more as per tolmie's 5?

I think he will play a lot if he signs for 5 years. Pep doesn’t trust Foden or Grealish in the middle, so playing a viable double pivot of Rodri and Phillips would make it an option to play a different formation.

Let's get back on track.

I'm not sure about this.

I think he is an Arsenal/Spurs level player. He's good but not great.

He's 26 years old and going on 27 next year, He hasn't had a good season this year.

It feels like it would be a Delph/Ake type signing, If he is content with being rotated and having to fight his way into the XI for big games, and it only costs 30M, why not. But as the main midfielder I would not like it.

But that can't be the only midfielder we bring in this summer.
