I think Ake's decision IF he decides to leave will be more to do with world cup.

The national coach LVG famously made Rags Target Justin Timber change his mind citing lack of game time as he thought Timber would be a sub atleast initially being Varane / Maguire / lindelof.

Hope he stays, but again IF he goes city can demand a healthy fees.

LVG clearly doesn't rate Timber

Ake was never brought to be four choice center back but he end as that.Now I can't see us spending over 50mil. for someone if Ake goes.I would not buy any new center back.I would keep Doyle and Mbete in first team and see how season goes.

Ake was really good the second half of last season. Looked settled into the team and thought defensively he looked our best cb. Unless he pushes for the move it'd be an entirely unneccessary transfer. The money would have to be recycled into finding another cb of similar quality. Pep taking a picture with all the new signings going to look like a whole team photo lol.

In my opinion there is nobody better than Pep at what he does. I can accept that therr are a small group who may be as good or nearly as good as him, but not better.

When he goes, it will be a loss.

Fortunately we're run too well to do what United did post Ferguson, but we will regress.

Given our history of CB injuries recently and the loss of Fern as a cover, I cannot believe anyone would suggest we tackle this season with 3 and a youngster.
If Ake goes we need a very strong replacement.

Nothing would surprise me with city in the transfer market. We played the last season with no striker when we were all screaming out for one last summer, so going in to a new season with three centre halves wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Kounde wants Barca it seems, so maybe that's why Chelsea are now looking bat Ake.

If you going have big change in the squad for its better to do it in a season where it be a stop start season with the World Cup because no club knows how it’s going to effect them! There is going to be a lot disruptions this season with 5 subs think we get away with playing a couple of youth players! Also don’t think it be a 90+ point season 84 be enough next season…

Big mistake if we allow Ake to leave.

One injury to a CB and we have to play the same pairing 3 times a week.

Knowing City we'll allow Ake to leave without a replacement.

Knowing City, we won't.

i think pep prefers right-footed/left-footed CB pairings (build-up play) and that`s why Mbete has a better chance...

Callum Doyle had a breakthrough season at Sunderland and he has been outstanding so far in U-19 Euros. He can play as LCB and LB and probably better than all our academy CB. One to lookout for but it's all depend on Pep

Nah chelsea should pay way over the odds here. new owners, american tax. he's homegrown for them so that counts for a lot, plus they are desperate. 60m.

No the question is, if we didn’t replace Sterling , is our forward line stronger or weaker than the last 2 seasons. IMO it’s stronger, as is the whole team if we get Phillips and a left back too by quite a way. So whichever way the club go I’m okay with.

We have asked about Reece James.

Ake and Raheem would be £110m.

They didn't really want to pay that, so we have proposed a solution.

It would mean James and £40m coming to us.

Thoughts?

I think we are very short at right-back and it would be a phenomenal deal?
