Haaland is the Jesus replacement, for me. Alvarez replaces Torres.
Jesus -> Haaland
Torres -> Alvarez
Fernandinho -> Phillips
Mendy -> Cucurella
Steffen -> Ortega
Sterling -> Palmer? Someone new?
The last one is the only one to be concerned about, in my eyes. All the rest are either clear improvements or good business even if not a direct upgrade in quality. We'll see about the Ake and Bernardo stuff as time goes on.

I wonder if we’d ever consider taking another look at Sancho. His link-up with Haaland at Dortmund was excellent, and obviously him being club-trained is a massive bonus. Plus he’s still very young and comfortable on either flank

Has there ever been a player transfer from the rags to City?I haven’t seen much evidence of him playing football anywhere since he left Germany

Haaland is the Jesus replacement, for me. Alvarez replaces Torres.
Think it’s relevant to compare them anyway. Both south americans with flair and technical skills. Jesus is a great player but Alvarez looks special, a rare talent.
If Pep didn’t think Alvarez would be an upgrade, I think he would have kept Jesus and just ignored Julian.
Haaland for me replaced Agüero even though it took a while. Jesus was never our first choice striker like Haaland will be. He played on the wings for most of last season and Alvarez will be there too.
