Why we expect them to reduce the value of their POTY by almost 50%
Gaya is a good shout. Espically considering Valencia's financial situation. There are decent options on the market, I don't think the search begins and ends with Cucurella.
Raum and Sosa have already been mentioned as alternatives. Jose Gaya, Renan Lodi, Estupinan are great options from La Liga, not a market that's short on options either way. We could even try for the lad at Wolves, Ait-Nouri
Brighton can hold on to him if they believe he's worth that
Brighton would need to pay Cucu what he is worth. 50m player is bound to be on about £150k per week. Can’t see £30k and a walk on a pebbley beach will be enough now they value him so high. There are decent options on the market, I don't think the search begins and ends with Cucurella.

12 months on his deal tooGaya is a good shout. Espically considering Valencia's financial situation.
If Brighton won’t budge - walk away - we need to think longer term - if we overpay here and let Brighton take the piss we will regret it. We overpaid in the early years after the takeover but we reeled that in by being resolute. We have circa £40 to £50m to buy a decent left back - let’s get one - Cucurella is a good fit but he’s not the only show in town and I’d sooner move on than have Brighton take the piss. Blackburn is talking about £20m over the odds that suggests maybe they are looking for £50m plus £10m - is that reasonable… shit Barca value Bernardo at less than that!
Agree. Negotiate hard and get the second option lined up in case we need to walk. The club is trying to stop the inflated prices we had to pay on our way up. Kavlin from Leeds is a perfect example of how we have grown. If Cucu is unobtainable we have no choice but to leave it. Bigger issue will arise in the future if we get fleeced now.If Brighton won’t budge - walk away - we need to think longer term - if we overpay here and let Brighton take the piss we will regret it. 45+5 from a NFA£45m + add ons.
(From a paid-up KFA.)
It could also be his last chance at CL football, given the fickle nature of football. If he has another good season someone will pay 50m

I don't think we'd regret getting a guy who could be our LB for the next 10 years.
They could. But they might not. Why! Barcelona chelsea or a Real Madrid could by him!
