It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

I personally don’t think whether pep thinks JWE is ready or not is relevant. We will still need a full back imo. If we signed cucurella JWE would get minutes in the league cup and early fa cup rounds. He is very raw and after last season I really don’t want us going into next season with Walker and cancelo as the only 2 senior full back options. Whilst JWE played well yesterday there was times he was out of position and his inexperience showed.

3 senior full backs and JWE as a promising young player getting minutes in cup games etc would be ideal imo especially with the condensed fixture list next year
I think players like Wilson Esbrand really need to go on loan
Playing every week he will be some player
Same for delap
So many of these players are excellent nhs just need to keep developing

Wan Bissaka was coached by Ole.

I'll just leave it there
A player has to have natural ability to do something, Ole is irrelevant, Wan Bissaka is incapable of going forward and having offensive output, a coach can only do so much.

I am beginning to feel that I would rather get Sosa for £20m than Cucu for £50m.
Sosa injury record just really concerns me. Cucurella is absolutely brilliant defensively as well but so long as we get a lb I won’t complain

It's relevant wrt the type of a LB we need. If Pep and Txiki regard JWE as a big talent and a potential 50m FB, it's pointless to pay 50m for Cucu. We may be happy with a cheap option such as Sosa who wouldn't block JWE's development.

Not convinced by the Sosa links. I think Pep probably prefers no new signings over another Angelino type. We know Pep didn't fancy Angelino. Being able to cross and get up and down the wing is not enough to play in Pep's system.

If City get Sosa, i'd imagine it's because they see something else other than just a wing-back who can cross.

I'm far more convinced by Wilson-Esbrand than I am with Delap (who I don't think will make it at the top level as he's a bit slower than he needs to be).

Not that convinced by McAtee's ability to make it at the top level either.

But then again, I said the same about Silva when he came to City....

I just get a feeling that we might still have an outside chance of signing Saka this window. There has to be some reason why we're sweetening Arsenal up this window, and his name has been mentioned in recent weeks. His contract renewal decision will be interesting
Don’t see it and hope he stays there.

Nothing wrong with having such a feeling as you’re entitled to that.

Angelino couldn't cross to Haaland. Haaland's presence may change things a bit. Sosa contributed 17 assists in the last two Bundesliga seasons. Cucu had 2 last season (poor strikers, I know). And Sosa's price is what, 40% of Cucu's...

We (Pep) may be fascinated with Cucu, but then again we may be seeing him as no more than a very good option to rotate. And at 50m he is too expensive for a squad player.

Dunno but we may be weighing our options now, which would go some way in explaining our 30m offer for Cucu, provided it's a fact. If we bid 45m for Cucu and fail, then 20m for Sosa might be a non-starter.

Imho, you are completely wrong about McAtee…he will become a fantastic asset to the team…he has what all great players have…time on the ball, excellent close control, can spot a pass and knows where the back of the net is…so long as he keeps going at the rate he is, he will play many years for both City and England…of course imho…

Rico lewis looks much better. I though Esbrand did a solid job, but made some rookie mistakes.
Rico did nothing in the game to suggest he is anywhere close to being ready. Esbrand is many level above him when it comes to integration with the pep way of playing

I think nothing is abit harsh

He did dance through a bayern defence and smash it straight on to the post, an inch to the left and u would probably have a different opinion

Hope this is right, haven’t seen enough of him
